Kemba Financial Credit Union

Free Coffee And Clean Lobby Are Not Enough

If Kemba was a person, it would be that friend of yours that just can’t get their life together.

You see so much potential in them, and you stick by them, hoping one day it will click.

Kemba never rose to the challenge and I finally had to end our relationship.

This place is a mess and has a long way to go to get “there”.

I was really hopeful that leaving a corporate bank to work with a credit union would be a good experience. WRONG. From day one we had many problems.

-Our banker, Ryan, needs additional training in order to continue providing complex services to the members.

The man would take days to return important calls, if he ever did.

-The bank does not have a direct to location number.

You call a main line that takes you to corporate so unless someone in the branch gives you a direct line of theirs, good luck talking to someone who knows you.

Even Wells f’ing Fargo has direct to branch lines.

-Three months after the Target scandal Kemba canceled my debit card, without my permission, because it had been used during the window of compromised security.

I had thus far not been hacked and was told by the branch manager “to many of our member’s have been compromised so we decided as a courtesy to just reissue all new cards in order to avoid further fraud”.

This should have been a choice left to each member. I had to re-enter all my ACH payments and that was a HUGE problem.

Not to mention that I had to go weeks without a card because I never received the new card, and in order to get another I had to go into the branch which is a whole new problem (see below).

-After spending 14 minutes to get through to a banker, I asked them to fax me a form that would allow me online access to all my accounts.

It never came. So I left 3 THREE messages for Ryan to call me so this could be taken care of.

I finally had to have him transfer money for me in the bank since they still were never to allow me online access.

The online banking system is HORRID.

-The drive through ATM is always broken. I have only successfully used it once in the almost year I banked with them.

-You have to show an ID to withdraw funds from your accounts inside the bank.

Your card, and “tokens” or information only you should know, is not enough.

There are no pin pads at the teller windows so if you lost your ID, tough sh*t.

-The tellers have attitudes worse then 8th grade girls. When I tried to explain to the teller that I didn’t have my ID and asked why tokens wouldn’t be enough validation he gave me some serious shade and when confronted about it, got even sassier.

-The hours are ri-damn-diculous. If you have a full time job with business hours, your only options are to wait the 2 hours on a saturday to see a banker or to leave work early.

-Speaking of Saturdays, the line is cut throat. It will turn the nicest of old ladies into Tributes from District 12. Try to claim you were next, and you WILL be shanked.

Sorry, Kemba, but your free coffee and clean lobby are not enough.

I would rather keep my money under my mattress. Instead I have taken my business to Chase.

I will post about the wonderful experience we have had there that has made the insane inconvenience of switching banks, worth it. F U Kemba.

  1. Kemba is awesome! the online banking is easy to use.

Kemba is awesome! the online banking is easy to use.. i could almost teach my dog how to use the website. maybe the person who reviewed last has extreme operator error, because it is self explanitory. never had an overdraft fee because im not dumb. hands down greatest bank i ever worked with

  2. Never Again

Can’t call it a Bank as of Nov. Today I went to wire some money outside of USA and they denied the service saying they cannot comply with new Federal Law. I choose to withdraw cash but they have a limit of $3000 per day.

If you want your own money you have to tell them a day in advance that you need some of your own money back.

  3. NOT Available service

I have been with Kemba for years now. I am so frustrated with the fact that I was told that I cant put a stop payment order on a electronic payment unless I had made an electronic payment before though that company.

I’ve only and always made payments to the company by check. so, essentially, they can go through my account electronically(which they did) to get their money. now my accounts overdrafted and kemba cant help me. NOT FAIR

  4. Bad Service Provide

“No Star” Kemba, Kemba, Kemba….where do I begin? From the very rude customer service staff, to the overdraft protection that is clearly making Kemba a very profitable bank and constantly dragging me down, I’m just appalled.

Simply put, I told a Kemba banking rep today, When I become wealthy, I plan to keep my funds in their account for the bare minimum, then Im going to enter the bank and say, I would like to close my account. The teller will ask, Ms. Doe, what can we do to keep you as a member of this fine bank?

I will answer, Absolutely nothing. Because when I was down, you kicked and said Pay the $160 overdraft fee for the $3.00 at McDonalds, the $2.00 at the carwash, the $1.81 at the Wendy’s because ma’am we PROTECTED your account and covered these fees when the funds weren’t available. And as a courtesy we charged you $32.00 EACH time! LOL Kemba is a joke! I laugh now and will laugh harder later because I WILL have my revenge in this life or the next!

Take heed, Kemba is not for the weak (or middle class)…I hope you find this review helpful and RUN the other way! By the way, I’ve been a member since.

  5. Horrible. Greedier than any bank.

Horrible. Greedier than any bank. Have business and personal accounts with Kemba and they suck. Jacked my interest rates on two different loan applications that were supposed to be “locked”, when I complained they sent me a nasty letter from their legal department threatening to close my accounts and suspend my banking priviledges.

Hold every check I deposit into my personal account for no reason, including my paychecks and checks from government entities. Bank ANYWHERE else but at Kemba if you want to protect your money.

  6. Scammer

I logged in around 9 am and noticed that a bill came out a day early, even though I had the funds in my other account, they charged us $35 and told us that there is no grace period. Again,

something that Chase, Huntington, etc offer. The customer service leaves much to be desired and we will be changing banks asap! We don’t want to do business with a company who does not value the time and money of their customers.

  7. I wish I had better things to say about Kemba Financial.

I wish I had better things to say about Kemba Financial. We have 2 checking, 1 savings and 2 car loans with this institution. Kemba is not at all competitive when it comes to fees charged.

We have had several, um, “miscommunications” as they called it, with the way our accounts are set up for Overdraft Protection, as we have 1 checking specifically for bills.

First, they charge me $5 any time money is automatically transferred, something that Chase, Huntington, etc do not do (why are you charging me $5 to move my own money to my own account?). Second, they charge you an overdraft fee the same time your account goes negative – there is no grace period, not even an hour.

  8. Horrible. Greedier than any bank.
