Horizons North Credit Union

THIS Credit Union Is Awful

First, I have been a customer since 1988, when my Mom made me open a savings account with Horizons North Credit Union while still in High school.

She maintains an account there, as well as my brothers. I use it for my small savings, and have an internet bank.

I infrequently get large bank checks that I use the account to take in, and then either move it to my account or leave it to pay bills with. It is always from a large bank, like Charles Schwab, Bank of America, and even Chase.

Since 2003 I will get maybe 1 check that is above 10k, and the rest are usually about 8 to 9k.

Which is nice to get a bonus or to take funds to pay bills. I took a check in yesterday for a good amount, and they put a hold on it.

Normally they see it is a large bank, and know the funds are good funds and do not put any sort of hold on the check.

I was shocked! They stated only two days, which I have heard nightmares of over 14 days.

But this bank knows my history, they know how long I have been there, they know I do this.

Okay, now I had a bill due the next day (today) for the funds.

She wrote down my account number in the endorsement area, to take it to the bank manager to ensure that it had to be held.

She came back and said, he said it should be held longer.

Why don’t you take it to your other bank. Well NOW that the account number is in the endorsement area, I couldn’t!!!!

The old crew that has since retired–When this was the District 12 credit union was amazing.

They knew customer service. They knew to ask questions to understand the clients needs.

They knew the importance of helping out their customers.

Even asking questions to determine how much of the check I needed to pay the bill the next day would have been helpful. But they wouldn’t budge.

This is not the only bad service I have had. My Mom has been with them just as long.

She had a car loan through them, and took out a few personal loans in her time.

She has impeccable credit, and usually fluctuates how much she holds at the bank.

When my Dad passed away, she went in to get funds, because she is not comfortable with the ATM.

They were rude to her. She also wanted to remove my Dad as account holder (By the way–He was not the “primary account holder”. )

They were rude to her, didn’t show empathy for my fathers loss, nor did they seem to care that they were working with a person.

THIS credit union is awful. If you locate out of the area, you are pretty much stuck with that one bank.

They charge fee’s to ACH money, unless you have a certain amount in the account.

Ridiculous! I’m done, after my experience and my Mom’s–I am ceasing my business relationship with this credit union.

  1. The Service she provided was refreshing

My bank is in Kansas. This was a sister bank. I meeded to deposit funds into my account. The lady who helped was very lovely. The Service she provided was refreshing (:

  2. I would recommend trying a different credit union to anyone looking.

Every time I go through the drive-thru the staff is rude and takes their sweet time to get things for you. Then the time it takes your transactions from your debit to actually go through and be noted on your account is ridiculous. I’ve paid bills online with my debit card and done a funds transfer and it has taken so long to get the transaction through that I’ve actually been late on bills before.

My other complaint is when I log in I have to re-register my computer and have it send a code which is just annoying to do every single time. I keep trying to talk myself into staying here but I’m ready to leave this place. Only a couple people I’ve met here have treated me with actually customer service. I would recommend trying a different credit union to anyone looking.
