Home Comfort does sloppy work

I was scammed by home comfort USA twice and I take all the blame on me. When the first time, they did sloppy work at my house, I was completely frustrated. I called them many times and said that I would register them on the consumer complaints forums, they agreed to make things right.

They suggested that the work that was pending at my parent’s house would be taken care with utmost priority and responsibility. We needed a HVAC install from scratch at my parent’s house. I had discussed this before with Home Comfort, but after looking at their work, I had changed my mind.

However, to gain my trust, the salesman told me that he would offer discount and the service would be done on time with perfection, without fail. So, I agreed to give them the second chance and they blew that chance as well.

I scheduled the install for the next week and they confirmed the same. I also applied for leave to make sure everything was fine. The day of the scheduled install, the people came with all the things required to do the install and unloaded it in the front lawn. Later, when they tried to start the work, they figured it out that they missed the requirement for an electric panel upgrade when they came for the inspection on the first day.

So, the guy who came for the installation tried reaching people from the company and gave up after 30 minutes when he was not able to connect with anyone. I also tried to talk to the salesperson who recommended this deal and I was not able to connect as well. The salesperson was on leave and no one was ready to take the responsibility on his behalf.

The guy left with all the equipment and asked me to reschedule the work. I wasted my time on these guys and had to ruin my leave for nothing. Later, when I got connected with that salesperson, he said that the I would be required to pay $1700 in excess of the amount we agreed upon. When I asked them for working at my home, I had paid them $20K already and they had done the worst things.

There were patches on the walls and left my vents in a very terrible conditions. Asking them to compensate for the same, I asked them to include the upgrade in the cost suggested during the first visit.

But, they denied. So, I cancelled the install with them and got another company to do it. They charged me even less than the agreed amount with Home Comfort. There are no words to explain the rudeness and irresponsible behaviour that I came across while dealing with these people. They do not know the work and charge higher price for no reason.

Only to increase their profit, they ask for unreasonable amounts. And, at the end, they leave their customers frustrated like they did it to me.

    The company is a scam. I was scammed too. They never got the technician on time. I needed someone to look at my vent which seemed choaked and I wanted to install a new one. They took away the money and did the worst job.

    Never ever going to hire with them.

    Worst company ever you can get a better price anywhere and better customer service from anywhere else. They call people yelpers to their face and they got my name wrong 4 times. Don’t go with them call someone else anyone! Trust me!

    HCUSA credited me $25 to purchase paint so I could do it myself. Contract states they are to place a cover around the AC that is mounted on the roof. City of Anaheim requires it. HCUSA stated they would put up a lattice.

    I verified w/ the City building dept. & a lattice is NOT permitted. HCUSA rep stated they put up lattices all the time. HCUSA is based in Anaheim, & they DO NOT know the regulations in their own area. HCUSA stated they are awaiting an email from the “city engineer” w/ size specifications & regulations for AC cover. It’s been 3 weeks.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! My family had a horrible experience dealing with these guys. These people use scare tactics to get your $$$ and prey on elders “your unit is cracked” “your at risk of having a house fire” They will definitely tell you that your unit needs to be replaced because they make so much more $. People, please get a 2nd and 3rd opinion.

    They tried ripping my family off. Quoted 16k for complete new system. My system is only 15 years old. I got another opinion and turned out to be a $60 flame sensor switch and I got my system fixed for $175 parts + labor.

    The repair man just laughed when I told him the horrible experience I had with HOME COMFORT USA and reassured me that my unit was in great condition and they were just after our $$$ sadly there is a lot of dishonesty in this business. I will be filing a complaint with contractors state license board.

  6. Very disappointed in this company.

    Our two year old air conditioner ran out of freon due to poor installation. When we tried to call to get it fixed under our warranty they continually promised to call us the next day to schedule an appointment. This happened for 4 days.

    Meanwhile our home was up to 93 degrees in the house. I let them know that our three year old daughter has a heart condition that worsens when her body is stressed and that we were not able to stay in our home while waiting for them.

    They still gave us the run around. We ended up paying another company to fix it because we needed to return home. Very disappointed in this company.

    stay away fm this company . They misdiagnose the problems , provide inexperienced techs , inflated repair costs and then they try to sell you products that you do not need. They also try and sell you a maintenance program in order to come back , to again try to sell you a repair that are not needed or a product that is not needed.

    DO NOT ALLOW THIS COMPANY IN YOUR HOME . Pls understand that I have never written a bad review on a company in my entire life , but this was such a bad experience multiple times , that I just can not allow another consumer to go thru my bad experience. pls call another company.

    Good salesman. Home Comfort Is a Costco dealer. They beat Costco’s discounts and rebates with lower pricing and a better filter for the Lenox heating unit. Top notch installers. The box the heater sits on was insulated and sealed. Would recommend this company.

    Ken’s comments, relative to the repair of my air handler, were spot-on.
    However, I devoted the majority of my comments to their lack of maintenance, on my maintenance contract.

    He did not make any comments, relative to the lack of maintenance, on my maintenance contract. One has to wonder why he did not (OK, failed) to comment on the bulk of my comments.

    Called Home Comfort as we heard their advertisements on Christian radio quite often. Had an air conditioner go out in early July (of course with company visiting that week). They told us we had to replace the entire unit, AC and heating unit because somehow they are connected.

    The sales guys were polite and we trusted them and the company. They got the replacement done quickly however that is when all the PROBLEMS began! The outside compressor unit made a high pitched squealing noise.

    This has been a huge disappointment. Clearly this is a lemon unit or their installers and repair crews are inept. Either way we will be demanding a replacement unit immediately at their cost. Hopefully they have the ethics, that their company says they stand upon, and will do what is right and replace the faulty unit. Unless they make this right I can NEVER recommend them.

    We get a phone call that says he was running late and didn’t have the part in his van and now the part store is closed. After rescheduling again, only to have the next repair man come and say it wasn’t the motor at all, he thinks it is something else we then went to the field supervisor and demanded his visit to our home regarding the horrible product and inept service.

  13. I guess they have enough business and don't need any more.

    Scheduled a Project Manager for this Saturday morning between 9 & 10 to come and give me an estimate on new AC and furnace. They call at 9:45 on Saturday morning to say he would be there between 12 and 1. At 12:30 I call them and ask where their Project Manager is.

    They call me back at 1:00 to say he would not be here until between 2 & 3. If this is how the company starts out for a quote, then no thank you to their service. Extremely disappointing. I guess they have enough business and don’t need any more.

  14. My furnace is now running perfectly and is no where near needing replacing.

    Totally disappointed by the result of a “check up” call. The result of the check up was that there were many problems, potential wire short circuits, a leak in one of the burner tubes and other problems. The conclusion was a strong recommendation to replace my existing gas furnace.

    Fortunately I had asked other companies for quotes. The first company which called to look at the installed furnace, gave it a thorough inspection and then fixed the wiring problem and a blower clean for $100. There was absolutely no leak of hot air from the burner tube, triple checked by the second company’s technician by putting his hand right in the area where the “leak” was described as being located,

    while the furnace was heating. My advice to all is make sure you get 2 or 3 opinions as to furnace problems before committing thousands of dollars when one hundred dollars may fix the problem. My furnace is now running perfectly and is no where near needing replacing.

    I’ve been shopping around to put in a new AC unit in my house. I had this company come out to give us a bid. I got there number from an ad in the newspaper. They came out last week to look around. I was not happy when there said they could give us a EST.

    I was told they needed to come back in a week to give the Bid. I ask if they could email me the bid. The answer was NO. So one week later. The guy comes back out to give the bid. I look at the folder nothing in writing. Blank papers and a Blank contact.

    He told me he had the bid in his computer. I was not happy. I feel like he wasted a week of our time. Then he look like a dear in head nights when I kicked him out of the house.

    I felt like I was going to get ripped off. I would never recommend this company at all. In this day and age, you should have a bid in a few day in writing. I guess his computer don’t email! Beware:

    Heard about their company on my favorite Radio station.

    Just received a call that the tech has other jobs and will not be able to make the scheduled window time between 12-3 pm. I’m not one to sit an wait for others all day. I’m thankful for the call after an hour and half of waiting.

    According to the person I spoke with today, this company (Home Comfort USA) had just recently taken over for another company (Kenneth R Starr) that I have done business with for a few years. When I called, not knowing that this company had taken over,

    I explained that I would like to have a technician go out to recheck a unit that they had just recently serviced. The person who answered the phone immediately wanted my business information, instead of being concerned about my problem and when it could be looked at.

    There was so much noise in the back ground from other people talking that I could not understand what she was saying. When I told her that she should already have all of that information on file, she said that she did not have any information from the previous owner and did not know when she would be able to get it.

    I explained to her that I needed someone to go out as soon as possible regardless of the previous owner`s warranty. I asked to speak to her manager, who although was polite, did not seem to be too concerned about how important it was for me to someone respond soon and not in a week. The manager did say to me that they only had one tech responding to the calls from the previous owner.

    I just told her that I would look somewhere else for service.
    I am not sure of what all was going on here, but it seemed as though an answering service was being used for the calls. I just know that whatever was happening it was not very business friendly oriented.

    AC stopped working. Temperature in the house up to 96. Called around, American Comfort was able to come out that day. Technician arrived. Inspected unit. Informed me that a particular part was needed and the cost of that part was $375. But, I needed two of them. $750.00.

    I was a bit surprised at the cost of the parts. Technician said he would give me a “Senior Discount” and the parts would only be $275.00 each, now we’re down to $550.00 and the cost of the service call.

    I get the part number, Google it, and the part costs between $5.00 to $11.00. And, there is only one required, not two. At that point I was a bit upset. I told the guy to just button everything up and to leave.

    While walking back into the house I was informed that he would give me a discount and only charge me $275.00 for everything. WHAT? You just quoted me $750.00 to start. Then you were going to give me a “Senior Discount” and the price would be $550.00. And now you’re going to sell it to me for $275.00?

    Temperature was now up around 100 degrees outside. I told him to fix the unit. I didn’t want to deal with people like this again, once was enough. He fixed it, AC is now working and I was told not to tell the boss what transpired here. I told him I would not. But, that doesn’t stop me from posting a review on Yelp!

    These folks will try to rip you off for whatever they can. Don’t believe me? Check the part numbers of items installed during your most recent visit. How much were you charged? What did the parts actually cost? And how many did you need to start with? Really bad business. This is one of those incidents where you want to call the local news station and alert them to consumer ripoff practices.

  20. I will not recommend American Comfort to any of my friends or family.

    During this winter, my heater stopped working. I remembered American Comfort because of the van I saw driving around one day. I went to their website and called for a tech to come to my home and look at my system to see what was going on.

    This was the start of some very unfortunate events with this company. I was scheduled an appointment to which the technician was over an hour late and I was never given a phone call as to what was going on. When he finally arrived to my home, the customer service and friendliness was non-existant. Last time I checked I am giving you my business and it is not the other way around. I expect professionalism which was not given at the time of the inspection of my unit.

    Also, the advertisements I have seen from American Comfort showed $3995 for any system no matter what. This is not the case whatsoever. Once they think they have your business the price is something completely different from what is actually advertised. False advertisement!!!

    First, Zach was very pleasant to deal with. The installation crew is excellent. However, customer service reps need improvement because they are not responsive, taking too long to return a call (about 48 hours).

    In addition, when I paid by credit card for in home service ($350), Anthony took down my email info to send me a receipt, but I have never gotten it and too sick tired of calling them again.

    i recommend home comfort due to being fast and reliable when it comes to the technicians and our sales rep Michael he was great! We only had one issue with the system turning off due to the thermostat not being placed correctly but they quickly fixed the problem. Only down side of home comfort are some of the “customer service” employees.

    They were friendly at first but became rude and full of attitude when i would call to get updates on my referral check and the herst testing. Being that we installed the hvac over 6 months ago and still haven’t received permits the Herst testing was barley completed 2 weeks ago and they didn’t show up to 2 scheduled appointments. i recommend that home comfort changes their herst testing contractors.

    Today, Home Comfort USA Service Tech Jynessa T. came to our home for a scheduled maintenance service call on our Lennox air conditioning system. Jynessa was very courteous and knowledgeable. She conducted her maintenance and identified a couple of issues of concern. One issues was more pressing than the other.

    Although we didn’t agree to the immediate repairs, I did advise that I would do some research on the particular parts and get back to her. She was not pushy, in fact she did say the pressing issues should be repaired before summer regardless of who we select to do the repairs.

    She never got pushy or rude. When I complete my research on the issues and am ready to do the repairs I hope if I don’t go with Home Comfort, I will measure customer service against Jynessa T. She is a very good representative of the company.

    I went to Anaheim because mom wanted me to visit her. I think I spent a week there with her when I noticed that the heating system isn’t working in the living, maybe that’s why mom doesn’t really stay there long during the night.

    I asked her if she knew any HVAC repair and said no, she’s not even planning of calling for repair. So I decided to call for repair or her, thankful that I found Home Comfort USA, they were fast and efficient with the job, and the technician was very knowledgeable with the job that the repair just took 1 hour then viola! It’s finished, the heater is well working already.

    There were some communication issues with their office–not following up–but things ultimately straightened out and we’re very happy with the service and solution provided by Mario.
