Home Air Services

I cancelled the yearly service contract I was expecting to sign.

Although telephone customer service and tech scheduling reps were very friendly, the follow-through on the service was very disappointing. I went with HAS because I was told by our previous property manager that they had serviced the air conditioning at my house the year before and the property was in their system.

First appointment there was a scheduling mis-hap and even though when I called they could see I was on the schedule for first appointment of the day, no one showed, and we had to reschedule. Second appointment we were supposed to be first appointment again and the tech didn’t show until mid-day and came without the right filter for our system and without a ladder tall enough to reach the unit on the roof.

I know it is a busy season, and things sometimes fall through the cracks, but I don’t have confidence that these mistakes are on-off and didn’t see the professionalism other reviews reference. Unfortunately, I cancelled the yearly service contract I was expecting to sign.

  1. Home Air Services Not Good Work.

I have had a maintenance agreement with Home Air for several on my condo I rent out in DC. But when I had a real problem they failed miserably. When my tenant’s AC failed, they couldn’t schedule an appointment for 36 hours ,

then sent their technician home and forgot I had an appointment. His verdict when he finally arrived at dinner time was that my compressor had gone and I needed a new HVAC system.

I didn’t even consider using Home Air for the new installation. To cap it off, I asked a manager to call me to discuss a partial rebate on my $274 maintenance plan, I was never called even though I was promised a call “within an hour”.

  2. I am left to assume that my business as an established customer is not important.

I have a service contract and had a late spring service check and the A/C unit had a bad capacitor so they would need to order and replace. The Tech that came out was nice and seemed he knew what he was doing. I know something about these things given I have similar work. The Tech tells me that I would have to pay for the part and that the labor would be covered under the service agreement. I was okay with this and he leaves.

Later in the day, i am at work and the wife calls and says the house is cold. She had checked the thermostat and it was set on 67 and the house temp was at 69. She adjusted and we decided mistakes happen. Tech returns next week with part and installs and checks everything again and all is good. Tech now says we have to pay for the labor and the part. Wife pays since she couldn’t reach me. Later in the day the wife finds the house cold again and the temp set at 67 again.

Now twice is too much in my accounting and the fact that I have to pay the labor after we were told we didn’t have to had already set things going the wrong way. I have tried to contact the service manager for a day now and he has yet to contact me. The office admin has stated that he has been in the office between when I have called so I am left to assume that my business as an established customer is not important.

  3. Not much of a warranty.

They did ok on the initial install but don’t call them back for service work. They have one of the highest labor rates around. I made the mistake of not asking rates up front. The other problem is they charge a very high administrative service charge on warranty items.

I had a part under warranty that should have been free but they wanted to charge me a very high administrative fee to file the paperwork. The part was about the same price as the administrative fee. Not much of a warranty.

Forget trying to talk to the owner Lionel Boulin to resolve problems, he won’t return calls and the office shields you from him. Buyer beware, do your homework and ask questions if you plan to use them.

  4. They'll be the ones we call when he finally have to replace to original system in our home as well.

I’ve worked with Home Air in a professional capacity for years, so when it came time to design a new system for my home, Kevin Moore and crew were the first people to come to mind. Home Air has come to my rescue on my old air conditioning unit several times.

They were professional, accommodating, and thorough. When we decided to add an addition to our home and add another heating/air conditioning unit and have a split system configuration in our home, we called on Kevin.

He’s extremely knowledgeable and the company is reasonable priced. They’ll be the ones we call when he finally have to replace to original system in our home as well.
