Hickam Federal Credit Union
Like Being Treated Like TrashI normally bank with Bank of America but since there isn’t any Bank of America branches in Hawaii, I had to open a bank account In Hickam Federal Credit Union.
I work at Hickam AFB so I thought for convenience, I would open an account at Hickam FCU.
What a beating!!!! They say you are eligible to open an account if you live/work/ or go to school in Hawaii.
Well they would not allow me to open an account for months when I first moved here even though I had a job.
I was still shopping for a place to rent or a place to buy and was staying in my car at the time.
They should change their motto to “You can open an account if you prove you have a permanent residence here only”.
I even stayed at the YMCA for a period of time so I could use their address but Hickam FCU still would not allow me to open an account until I bought a place.
I stay with them because now that they finally let me open an account, it is convenient.
As far as recommending this credit union, NO….not unless you like being treated like trash.
Guess FEDERAL is related to government.
interest rate .0X charge for dormant account 10 a month. Had a small savings there and for years they would tell me when i needed to do something. this time they didnt and to my surprise my small balance got way smaller.
its sad that a supposedly customer owned entity charges its “owners to keep their money in there. its a bear that i wouldnt have a return of 10.00 in interest in 10 YEARS but they have the balls to charge that per month. what a way to treat Veterans!!!! Guess FEDERAL is related to government.
Would not recommend this credit union to anyone.
Would not recommend this credit union to anyone. We have loans through them never been late on a payment once or anything, and they refuse to work with us for moving our car off island. They do not care about their members at all.
I did not get it.
Opened several IRAs at the Mililani branch. When it came time to start my withdrawals, they gave me a real hard time. They have withrawal request forms and some instructions but they started telling me I have to do other things, write letters, and were real nasty.
Then I had a special IRA where I filled out a withdrawal request right there at a supervisor’s desk. When the withdrawal date arrived, I did not get it. I called and they said someone there changed the withdrawal date to a year from now.
That date would subject me to a 50% IRS penalty for not making the minimum required withdrawal. They just said they will check into why that happened and call me back.
