Guild Mortgage

Methinks NOT!

Methinks NOT! I have a current loan with Guild Mortgage. I have investment property that I wanted to get quotes for refi.

I called and text my agent J and she never got back to me…ever. I called the office and the manager M said he would help me.

I gathered my info on the property to deliver to his office and he neglected to mention the office had moved!

Then he called me and said “not to bother bringing the info around..”(get this) “he doubts the property would value high enough and I would need a hefty down payment..”(gets worse)”and most people don’t have that kind of money just laying around.

So he can’t do anything for me. How does he know what I have??? How can he just discount me like I am not worthy of his precious time? I am a long time customer with excellent credit and payment history and yes, I have money!

I smell a rat… I should have listened to the person that recommended I call somewhere else.

They said he has done this to other people before! Other women particularly.

  1. I would say steer clear.

I sent a pay off to this company and had great difficulty getting them to release the loan once it was paid off. I would say steer clear.

  2. but he took no action to learn the law and resolve the issue professionally.

I used Guild Morgage Company for a residential loan and had a terrible experience, and would not use them for myself or recommend them. Mario Sandoval, a branch manager/loan officer, was not familiar with California laws regarding appraiser duties and California law regarding areas such as carbon monoxide detector compliance, among other things.

Mario insisted on having carbon monoxide detectors installed in a property with no gas lines and no fireplaces. California law states that such properties are exempt from such detectors, if there is not an attached garage. Yet Mario held up the closing of my property because he doesn’t understand the laws or the responsibilities of the appraiser, who admitted that she did not understand the laws either.

In essence, Mario acted to give legal advice, which he is not qualified/allowed to do, and he contradicted California law. Mario was arrogant and rude in his responses, even when given Fire Marshall and California Law links to this information. I can understand a loan broker/branch manager not being up to speed on every law, but he took no action to learn the law and resolve the issue professionally.

What’s worse, when I emailed and called Guild Mortgage’s corporate office in San Diego to ask them to intervene and educate Mario Sandoval on the laws and Realtor regulations/forms, Lisa Klika, Chief Compliance Officer at the corporate office in San Diego, didn’t return my call or email.
