Over ChargeAfter a referral from a coworker, I made an appointment to see Rick Radillo.
I know that I make too much money to qualify for a big return, but I thought that I would get, at least, a few hundred dollars back.
My coworker said that he charged her around $200 for an itemized return, but I couldn’t itemize because I didn’t qualify.
It took him all of 15 minutes to complete a tax return form, then he shook my hand, told me to take his card, and then left to another room… leaving me with the front office secretary.
She rang up my bill and gave me a fancy folder.
Secretary: Here is your total, $126.
Me: Oh, is this my return amount?
NO! It was the amount I owed Rick! I only got $80 back from both the state and federal returns, and he charged me $126 for a form that took him 15 minutes to complete!??
The least he could have done was give me an estimated return amount, and then told me how much the 15 minute form was going to cost.
My mistake was assuming goodwill.
Unbelievable.
