Edwards Chevrolet-280

This dealership is bad

That was totally a bad experience. I will never consider Edwards Chevrolet-280 dealership anymore, and tell my friend this dealership is bad. I’m looking for a 2019 Camaro 2ss. I called in noon to check availability.

I made a reservation for the test drive same day at afternoon. The salesman told me the car has been hold for me and will be ready around 4 pm.

My friend and I drove 1 hr in the raining day from Tuscaloosa to the dealership.

When we arrived, the sells manager directly came out and told me the car has been sold at few mins ago.

I even never met the salesman who contacted  me.

The manager said he could order a new one but I had to do all the paper work and promised I will get the car from him.

I don’t know if this is normal in US.

  1. Buyer Beware!

We had an awesome experience dealing with Wendell Gover! With being from far out of town, purchasing any vehicle, let alone a used vehicle, is a risky and stressful situation. Wendell made it a breeze! We were immediately reached out to after our initial inquiry, and then Wendell continued to respond to questions including sending pics and videos of the vehicle late into the evening. The day of our visit, Wendell stayed on top of our ETA given the long commute; upon our arrival, we found a smiling face and a beautifully detailed car! Wendell made the experience stress free, and I would strongly suggest looking him up the next time you’re in the market for a car!

Update: I am keeping the initial review above which was done prior to completion of the transaction to show the difference post completion. BUYER BEWARE! This dealership wrote the book for shady deals. I will keep my review of Wendell the same though I am 100% sure there was “good cop, bad cop” on steroids. Here’s the playbook: list a price online that is super competitive, get a buyer excited to come in, hope they overlooked the fine print on the list price (must trade in and must finance through the dealer), low ball their trade in versus KBB, charge $1300 in non-essential “Chevyman” line items (pure profit), drag your feet on completing the deal, and then keep financing options from them so they can ensure they make the most off the finance terms…oh, while haggling you on everything along the way. Here is what happened after my review:
Gas – they said they would fill up the tank, they haggled over what gas to put even suggesting I blend two grades to save them money.
Windshield – there was a crack that clearly I was the only one to notice. They said they would replace at no cost to me and that it could be fixed near where I live. Then for the next 4 hours I had to do with the onslaught of concessions they wanted ME TO MAKE (drive 7 hours round trip to their dealer to save money, cut me a check for a few hundred dollars and let me pay the difference). Not only that, the paper we both SIGNED that said they would replace the windshield was mysteriously replaced with a paper saying they owed me NOTHING when we got to financing. Thankfully my wife caught it and called the out.
Financing – not once did they ask me what terms I was looking for. When I got into finance nearly 5 hours later, they had decided for me what works best for them. When I challenged them, I was told all the interest rates for 48, 60, and 72 months were the same…that’s not how interest rates work. There’s this thing called “term premium”.

Assessment of Wendell: certainly played the game of good cop. Jury is out on genuine or not, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. If he is genuine, he needs to find another place to work.

Assessment of “Wizard of Oz” Sales Manager: worst sales manager I never met because he wouldn’t come out from behind his curtain to address me. I get they have a business to run, but this was one of the shadiest experiences I have ever had.

I will update this post after my windshield is fixed to let you know if at the very least they made that right…though I have low expectations.

  2. Recall Experience Not Good!

The problem I had was I took my Chevy Impala in for the switch recall. When I got to the service department they asked for all keys. I only had one not my spare,

this needs to be mentioned in the letter or when you call for an appointment you need to be informed then. Now I have to make another trip to service department with my spare key. 🙁

  3. Bad Service Provide

Called the service department at 5:00pm and scheduled an appointment for 8:30 the next morning. Arrived at 8:35 and they had no record of my previous call. They took my car and I explained that I had to have it back by the end of business for work the next day. 8 hours later, after never receiving any calls, I preceded to call the service department to find out the status of my repair.

I’ve called 4 times over the past 3 hours and nobody is answering the phones. I’ve left repeated messages with no response. I feel like they’ve stolen my vehicle. By far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced with any business. This was my first and last time having any dealings with Edwards Chevrolet.

  5. I don't like how the merchandise is not back with warranty and I hate I even bought the car in the first place.

I went because we key was getting stuck in the ignition and no diagnosis or solution was found so I’ve basically had to pay for nothing. My key is stil getting stuck in the ignition. I haven’t had the car long enough to be having these kind of issues.

I don’t like how the merchandise is not back with warranty and I hate I even bought the car in the first place. Can’t afford a car note and to keep paying 125$ to have the car looked at with no results.

  6. I will never recommend Edwards Chevrolet to anyone else!

I purchased a vehicle from Edwards 280 in February . Wasn’t the vehicle that I truly wanted but was in a position I had to get what I could. I was told by Eddie the sales person I worked with, that after driving for a year and making all payments on time, I could come back and trade it in for something I wanted. CROCK OF CRAP.

I am now 9,000 upside down in the vehicle and cant get out of it to save my life. Edwards and everyone else says there is nothing that can be done. I am convinced when selling me the vehicle they knew that I was screwed and would not be able to get out of it. I will never recommend Edwards Chevrolet to anyone else!

  7. I will say T.J has been cordial. Unfortunately I can't upload video but I have it all documented.

I just purchased a equinox at a local dodge dealership. on my way home the service engine light came on. the dealership told me they would take care of the issue and set me up an appointment at Edward’s Chevrolet 280. I bring the car in and they state they have to replace all the fuel injectors and intake gaskets.

As they are finishing with my car the service writer T.J tells me dont mind the gas smell they had to work on a gas tank next to my car. that’s fine I reply.

Later that day my car is hesitant to start and the fuel smell is getting worse. I turn the car off and pop the hood and record video of gurgling sound and fuel leaking on to the engine and smoking.
