Dr. Romana Usman MD

The Worst Diagnostician

Romana Usman is the worst diagnostician I have ever seen. She is the worst diagnostician that I have ever seen.

She was the first person I met when I needed a referral for primary care for knee surgery.

I had just switched jobs and had changed my insurance plan, so I had no choice but to find a new primary doctor.

I knew of the knee injury. Dr. Usman examined my knee for about 30 seconds and was skeptical that there had been any injury.

He told me to “rest it.” (I had suffered from a torn meniscus six weeks prior, so this wasn’t going anywhere).

I asked her several times during my appointment. She referred me to an excellent orthopedic surgeon, who performed surgery on me one month later. ).

If I hadn’t been so pushy, I wouldn’t still be experiencing knee pain at Dr. Usman’s behest.

Now fast forward six months. I noticed a rash on my hands that is identical to what I experienced in college.

I visit Dr. Usman, and she informs me that I do not have what I believe I have.

Because she suspects that my back might be a fungus, she prescribes me antifungal medication to take for 30 days.

I take this medication and felt extremely sick on the third day.

My pharmacist friend informs me that my dosage is more significant than any he has ever seen on the fifth day.

It is recommended to take three pills per week or 1x every two days.

I stopped taking the medication immediately because I was poisoning myself.

I decided to see a dermatologist to address my rash.

The doctor performed a skin scraping test, which Dr. Usman didn’t suggest, and confirmed that I have the same type of rash as in college. He also prescribed treatment.

I got a call from Dr. Usman two weeks later asking why I received a dermatologist’s report that I had this type of rash.

I was stunned. I was dumbfounded. It was the most awkward call of my entire life.

I had intended to find a new primary doctor after that but was too busy at work.

So when I became very sick just before the holidays, Dr. Usman arranged an appointment.

She correctly diagnosed a sinus infection, double ear infection, and bronchitis. She assured you that she is fine for “normal” stuff.

I did, however, ask about the lab results six months prior, as I hadn’t heard anything from her office.

First, she tells me that everything is normal. Then, as I leave the office, the nurse grabs my hand and takes me back so Dr. Usman can inform me I have vitamin deficiencies.

This information would have been beneficial for the past six months. Why did she tell you that everything was fine, then call me back as I was about to leave??

Needless to state, I was highly dissatisfied by her performance as a doctor and have decided to move on to a different one after three failed attempts.

She doesn’t seem to address each case and view issues objectively. She assumes that you have a specific disease but does not look at all your symptoms.

She is not qualified to provide basic first aid or antibiotics.

You should seek urgent care or the ER if you have a detailed presentation or unusual symptoms.
