The Worst Experiences
I had seen Dr. Melissa Wu after my last doctor closed his practice and moved to Kaiser.
On at least 6 different occasions over several years I mentioned that I had bad pain in my right hand (and I am right handed).
She dismissed it and told me to wear a splint. She never got X-rays or an mri and said “you have carpal tunnel.”
I ask what I should do and she said, “wear a splint.” I ended up leaving her practice because I was tired of being dismissed.
I went to another doctor who immediately sent me to X-ray. I was diagnosed with severe arthritis in my right hand and moderate in my left hand.
The new doctor said if I had come in sooner that physical therapy would have helped and to still try it.
I went to a great hand physical therapist and she said that my right hand would likely need surgery but my left hand could be saved with therapy.
Unfortunately if, when I initially complained of pain, I would have been sent to a PT or even to get X-rays it would have saved me years of severe disabling pain.
