Dr. Kamm McKenzie

Horrible Horrible Horrible

I have been experiencing pelvic and abdominal pain and have had a CT and vaginal ultrasound that had concerning results for cancer.

I called to make an appointment with my OBGYN at this practice only to be told that she has retired so that makes me a “new patient” and I have to wait 2 months.

I guess the fact that I am in daily pain and could have cancer doesn’t matter at all and they don’t care.

Horrible way to treat a current patient who may have cancer.

  1. I am hoping there won't be any issues there.

Few of their services (Lab/Anaesthesia etc) are not covered in Aetna network. Most of the billing issues related to Lab billing were sorted out with the help of Kamm Mckinzey billing department.

For anaesthesia services, you will definitely be OVERBILLED as service provider is not part of Atena. And i guess you won’t have much choice there in the Raleigh Area. Yet to receive my final Bill for Kamm Mckenzey services. I am hoping there won’t be any issues there.

  2. I don't want to switch doctors but I am really considering it.

I have been going to this practice for many years. The doctors are great! However, they do not schedule or send reminders for annual well-woman exams. So when I call a couple of months earlier prior to the annual appointment time,

it’s always so hard to get an appointment in time to be annually. This is frustrating since I am not a new patient and every year I ask they either schedule the annual apt or send the reminder, they don’t. I don’t want to switch doctors but I am really considering it.

  3. I understand things change but there's no reason to be rude to your customers.

The female doctors are amazing but the male doctors are some of the worst doctors I have met. As a first time mom, I had a lot of questions about various things happening during pregnancy and the female doctors always took their time to make sure I had the answers I needed.

Anytime I had concerns or questions and was meeting with one of the male doctors they acted like my questions were stupid and would barely respond to my questions. Perhaps it was because they could not relate but it would have still been nice for them to take the time to respond and calm my fears rather than look at me like they couldn’t believe I was asking them the question.

Also, I had requested a female doctor for my 36 week checkup appointment and was told that my appointment was with a female doctor. When I got the reminder call it said that I was set up with a male doctor. I called the office to see if there was any way to switch to a female doctor and the lady that answered the phone was so rude.

She immediately had an attitude and told me they could not guarantee me a male or female doctor, however, when I booked my appointment the lady making the appointment said it was with a female because i had declined an earlier appointment with a male. I understand things change but there’s no reason to be rude to your customers.

  4. Bad Service

If you value your time go to a different place, you will be waiting over 1 hour to see a Doctor.

  5. Before today, I would have rated this practice much higher.

Before today, I would have rated this practice much higher. I have been going to the practice for about 25 years. I had to cancel 2 previous appointments because my son was taken by ambulance to the hospital for an overdose. I called while on my way to the hospital following the ambulance to let the practice know what was happening.

I re-scheduled both appointments with “first available”, but that was at least a month out each time. When I tried to get a re-fill on Prozac today, someone named “Erin” whom I’ve never met, said they would not refill the prescription based on the 2 previous cancellations.

When checking on the website, evidently Erin is the RN at the practice. Is it really a great idea to withhold an anti-depressant for someone who has a son battling substance abuse? I’ve been on this medication for 20 years. I’ve been out for a week and can tell that I really need the meds.

The call-back person told me that when I come in (on Jan. 17th – their first available from over a month ago when I tried to re-schedule) they can do the re-fill. I won’t be going to that appointment. Time for find a new practice.

  6. I strongly do not recommend this place

I strongly do not recommend this place, terrible treatment, and they refuse to have me as a new patient because I stayed 15 days without see a doctor once I moved from another state, dont go there, the worse place and treatment I have ever received in my life and when I am pregnant!

  7. I am very disappointed with this practice.

I am very disappointed with this practice. May 15 I delivered twins and all was well until I received a balance for $650. In fact I thought it was a a fluke since I had finished the payment plan provided for some time. When I called expecting them to clear it up I was informed that I had been given the basic payment plan and that the billing department that “set up” the plan wasn’t aware that I had had twins.

In turn I was receiving a bill for the remaining balance. I have no idea why we did a payment plan for the standard when they were the ones that informed me that I was having twins. Also, I found it the most absurd since I was never informed at the conclusion of my payments but rather after delivering.

We had a baby that had to unexpectedly be monitored in the NICU and we expected the hospital bill and the extra bill for the NICU but never a bill from my practice that had provided me with a payment plan to take care of their side prior to delivery. As a teacher that doesn’t get paid over the summer, the payment plan was a God send.

Another surprise was the reason for the additional cost. Over the phone the explanation was shabby and all I could gather from the response was we were given the basic plan which didn’t include the operating room fee and the additional physician fee as a precaution since I had twins. That made me even more livid since I pushed both babies out unassisted with even a forcep let alone another physician.

My husband nor I saw another physician, just an anesthesiologist on call just in case. The explanation sounds so ridiculous. I was charged for a cesarean essentially and a doctor that wasn’t present. I had no say over the additional amenities and the final say of the billing agent was well we did say the payment was subject to change. Long story short, After my six weeks check up today I will not be returning.
