Dr John J Corey

Dr John J Corey joked about the smell in my nose

Ah, Dr. Corey. He’s like that one guy you dated back in college, who’s so charming and says everything you ever wanted to hear, just when you need to hear it. You know, the 6’2 tall one with those killer blue eyes and dark hair…

I was referred to Dr. Corey years ago. Being much younger, and before the internets exploded with sites like Dirty Scam in which females inform each other of awful boob jobs and such. I trusted the friend that referred me & didn’t do much of my own research.

I first got breast implants, which were initially great, so I got a rhinoplasty. The office was great, and I got a discount for paying cash. Fast forward 1.5 years and my breasts were very noticeably lopsided, the left one much larger than the right one, or vice-versa.

Also, my side boob was very noticeably wrinkly. My nose had an AWFUL odor that would. Not. Go. Away.Dr. Corey said it was normal that my implants did that, “they all do that after a year or two”. He joked about the smell in my nose and referred me to a specialist (his friend), who said everything was fine with my nose and instructed me to just, “wait”.

I did my own research and had my breast implants redone by a different doctor. It has been 4 years now and my implants are still even, with no wrinkly side boob.I went back to Dr. Corey, informing him that the smell turned out to be caused by a deviated septum which was a result of his subpar work.

He was unapologetic and went on to name the, “best surgeon in the country” who had to preform a rhinoplasty 3 or 4 times on his own daughter to get it right. Also, that that’s the reason he (Dr. Corey) no longer performs rhinoplasties.

So ladies, this is the part where you you find out that that dream guy in college has been dating you and every other girl…all those things he said? Lies. It’s everything you ever wanted but it’s simply elusive,

so I recommend learning from my lesson and going with the quieter, not so charming doctor because he probably gets better grades and is therefore a better surgeon. Also, he most likely doesn’t need to have his wife write positive Dirty Scam reviews on his business page. Boom, you’re welcome.

  1. Traumatizing consultation

I went in for a consultation with Dr. Corey for a lift and a breast augmentation.

I have been to quite a few consultations in the past for a few of my friends, so I thought I knew what to expect going into it. I felt uncomfortable upfront when one of his assistants came into the room and started taking pictures of me (would have felt more comfortable with the Dr doing this since this is what I saw happened in other offices). His assistant and I went over some questions that I had and some information she needed ie breast size, ideal look, etc.

I had done a lot of research over the course of 15 years of wanting to get this procedure done. This goes for scarring, breast implant sickness, and encapsulation. From the TED talks, YouTube videos, and online documents I researched I saw that the consensus was to make sure that your doctor doesn’t push off BIS and at least acknowledges it. I knew going into it that there are risks, but wanted to go forward anyway and asked about BIS in particular since this is a big life decision to get breast implants. The assistant assured me that silicone nowadays is up to date and there are less complications which made me feel more comfortable.

When Dr. Corey entered the room my boyfriend and I both noticed that his body language was very uppity. After talking about what I would need done (indeed a breast lift and augmentation) and taking some measurements he asked a question that was very off putting.

    “Do you hate your breasts?”

Very off putting question. I answered saying something along the lines of that they’re a part of me and I don’t want to hate my body, but that I want them to be enhanced.

This is where the whole consultation went downhill and became humiliating.

Dr. Corey started losing his composure and started talking me out of the surgery saying that a lift was “too big of a commitment and I’m a little nervous with you, scarring, implants, and a lot going on. I like when patients come in here and tell me that they ‘hate their breasts.'”

So I reiterated and asked him if he was nervous to do my surgery because of the shape and symmetry and explained that I was still willing to go through with the surgery.

He then said “Right, right. I’m not sure if this is the right operation for you”

Now my boyfriend and I are incredibly frustrated trying to understand why Dr. Corey didn’t want to go through with it. He would have moments where he would say I’m “emotionally not where I want you to be.” He even has the audacity to bring up that I asked a lot about BIS implying that I’m too much of a liability and just didn’t want to work on me. My guess is he just wants women desperate and hating themselves to give the buying signs to close a sale.

Needless to say, we never got a real answer as to why Dr. Corey didn’t want to operate on me since he kept beating around the bush. It almost felt as if he wasn’t confident enough to work on me. The whole experience felt humiliating and embarrassing. He did the bare minimum which was give back my $250 for the consultation.

To add insult to injury, when we were leaving, he was trying to have us leave out the back way to have us avoid his next consultation.

For being an older man with many years of experience, I wish that he could have flat out said why he felt so uncomfortable. Coming out crying from embarrassment out of this consultation after having a “professional” doctor see you naked and making you feel even more insecure is traumatizing. I understand that he doesn’t need to perform on people that “make him nervous”, but I feel that there could have been a better way of handling this situation. I hope that no one has to go through what I did. Unfortunately Dr. Corey lacks bedside manner or even empathy when dealing with certain patients.

  2. Amazing doctor and office staff

Dr. John Corey and his entire staff are phenomenal. The professionalism, level of care, and quality of work at this office are exemplary. I am only two weeks post abdominoplasty surgery but am already on cloud 9 with incredible results.

I also had filler and Botox done at this office by Hilla; I could not be happier with the natural yet dramatic results.

If you are looking for a plastic surgeon or are considering Botox and filler with natural results, do yourself a favor and make an appointment. You will be delighted with the results!!

  3. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!! NEGATIVE - STARS

All these positive reviews start off the same. dr. corey you need to switch it up a little bit to make it somewhat believable. Ladies there are to many qualified plastic surgeons in Scottsdale, AZ to put yourself at risk for multiple complications and the never ending amount of surgeries this guy sets up so you’ll be back within 2-3 years with another complication. And you’ll be sitting in his office and never expect to hear “oh it happened again” you’ll need ANOTHER surgery to fix it, that will be another $8000. Who knew getting implants by dr. corey would lead to 6 surgeries. And as of today I had them removed BY ANOTHER surgeon. Ladies do your research and listen to your FIRST instinct, that’s all. It’s the 21st century and you should be held accountable for your actions and since you chose not to then THANK GOD for the internet to make others aware…

  4. RUN AWAY!!

In short; allowing Dr. Corey to operate on me has turned into the biggest mistake of my life, and I wish I were joking. I will update my review with more facts once everything is set and done, if I make it (I wish I were joking). I just wanted to post this in hopes that nobody will go through what I’m going through, all because Dr. Corey didn’t take my symptoms (the awful odor in my nose, post-surgery) seriously. Almost a decade later and I’ve been to/through 9 primary care physicians, 3 psychiatrists, 2 gastros, 2 optometrists, 2 plastic surgeons, 2 corrective surgeries, 6 ENTs, 3 neurologists, 12 MRIs/CTs, 26 blood tests, 9 ER visits, 2 EEGs, 1 lumbar puncture, and plenty of other tests I don’t even remember the names of. The awful odor in my nose (which a doctor should have taken seriously) was an infection that spread to my BRAIN.

Longer version: I was referred to Dr. Corey years ago. Being much younger, and before the internets exploded with sites like Yelp in which females inform each other of awful boob jobs and such. Not. Go. Away.

Dr. Corey said it was normal that my implants did that, “they all do that after a year or two”. He joked about the smell in my nose and referred me to a specialist (his friend), who said everything was fine with my nose and instructed me to just, “wait”.

I did my own research and had my breast implants redone by a different doctor. It has been 6 years now and my implants are still even, with no wrinkly side boob.

I went back to Dr. Corey, informing him that the smell turned out to be caused by a deviated septum which was a result of his subpar work (before I eventually found out this was in fact an infection that eventually spread to my BRAIN). He was unapologetic and went on to name the, “best surgeon in the country” who had to preform a rhinoplasty 3 or 4 times on his own daughter to get it right. Also, that that’s the reason he (Dr. Corey) no longer performs rhinoplasties. This odor (INFECTION) turned out to be the cause of my “depression” (irritability that doctors chalked away to depression, EXCEPT 13 different depression medications did NOT work), fatigue, chills and sweats, vertigo, blurry vision, balance issues, stabbing ear pain, ileum ulcers, and many more symptoms wont bore you with.

I still can’t believe this is happening to me, and I wasted my 20’s away thinking I was “depressed” until the symptoms got so bad that I physically wasn’t able to move, and my memory got so bad that I could not remember my address or birthday…all because I trusted Dr. Corey with my body. Oh, how I wish I were exaggerating. I urge you to not make the same mistake I made!!!!

Please do your homework, and pick a different surgeon. To top it off, my reviews keep getting deleted somehow. Rest assured, I’ll keep reposting in hopes that NOBODY will go through the hell I’m still going through almost a decade later. I’ll make sure to blast this on my social media/YouTube/the news stations also, to raise awareness, just waiting to get better.

  5. Thank you soooo much for giving me the perky firm breasts I've always wanted!!

There is a reason this surgeon has such great reviews!! I’m rarely compelled to review a business, but I’m so glad I came here!

People always tell me that I could have gotten my procedure a little cheaper somewhere else, however, the extra was definitely worth it for someone I felt good about, and didn’t have to worry about paying for revisions later. He’s very no nonsense, doesn’t waste time, but gives you all the information you need and shares his opinions.

I just had my 6 month post op appointment today for my breast lift with implants, and Dr. Corey’s nurse Angela, was awesome, during my check up, she even inquired about a completely unrelated personal goal I had mentioned 3 months prior. Not sure if it was noted in my chart, but I love the little personal touches!

  6. Dr. is such a good looking guy!

I had the good fortune of meeting and consulting with Dr. Corey and his staff for the purpose of some reconstructive surgery. I had a number of complications due to prior procedures. After discussing my options with Dr. Corey, I elected to have a lift performed and my implants removed.

Dr. Corey and his team exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with the results. My visits to the office have been very pleasurable. The staff is very friendly and eager to help.

  7. Dr.Corey was absolutely amazing!

Dr.Corey was absolutely amazing! I got a breast augmentation about 2 months ago and i could not be happier. The healing time was fast and the results are unreal! His staff was incredible too!

I loved that i got his nurses number so if i had any questions i was able to text her personally and got answers instantly, that made me feel very comforable. Could not say enough good things to thank Dr. Corey and his office!!
