Dr. Horvath

The Worst Doctor

– If you’re an educated parent and believe that your job is to ask questions and advocate for your child then Dr. Horvath IS NOT FOR YOU.

– If you live and breath on every word of your doctor, believing that you should take medical advice as DIRECT ORDERS, and think that the Dr. always has the last word on the welfare of your child (ergo, not her child), then you’ll do well with this old woman.

Our first and only visit was as follows:

Dr. Horvath, after we asked questions as well as explanations for various procedures she was insisting on, told us that she would refuse to treat our child if we did not “go along with the program” and that we “should think about it,” and then literally stormed out of the examination room and hid at her desk in her office.

My wife and I looked at each other in confused silenced and whispered to each other, “so is that it, is the visit over? Was our son just ‘dumped’ as a patient because we spoke up and asked questions?” As parents we had not agreed or disagreed to any of the procedures she wanted to conduct at that time, we were still only asking questions so that we could be better informed and make a better decision on behalf of our child.

After about 5 minutes we realized she was not going to return to the exam room so I had to wander around until I eventually found her at her desk in her office and tell her we were not done with the visit and ask her to come back and complete the exam.

From there it went down hill has she abruptly and roughly conducted the rest of the exam on our crying preemie infant.

In witnessing her behavior, followed up by how she roughly handled our preemie son, I was shocked, angered, and felt that she needs to either be open to having discussions with parents or just finally retire once and for all.

To be fair, I’m also in the medical field, having worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 20 years, working directly along side and closely with MDs from all backgrounds and specialties and never have I ever witnessed such horrible bedside manner in a Dr. resulting from a patient or parent asking simple questions.

In our personal experience we observed this woman as insecure among others with similar educations and is easily, yet inexplicably threatened, when asked simple questions about the need for procedures, and as a result has the propensity to throw a tantrum and act rudely and inappropriately.

Eventually, we went to go see Dr. Paul Andrade, just a few doors down in the same building…and found that his office is a 180 degree difference.

Dr. Andrade’s office is clean, his staff his courteous, and Dr. Andrade himself takes ample time to discuss with us current trends in pediatrics while advising us as needed yet supporting us as parents with the final decision.
