Quite possibly the worst doctor I have ever visited with. Where do I begin to review and rate Dr. Henry Kaw.
First, he and his admin staff insisted I sign a document that states the Dr has explained all medical outcomes related to our meeting, that he has explained the risks therein, and he has explained the medications required.
This is BEFORE WE HAVE EVEN MET. This is unprecedented in any experience I have had with California doctors.
When I refused to sign the paperwork BEFORE I met with the doctor, and explained that I would be happy to sign it after he had in fact explained all of the above, the doctor threatened to refuse to fulfill our appointment.
Once I caved and signed his paperwork, the visit continued in a similar vein. Dr Kaw spent more time explaining to me in the most condescending manner how the American healthcare system works and how I need to know the difference between a PPO and an HMO. This little lecture consumed half our quick visit.
When we eventually got around to addressing the reasons for my visit, I was chided like a small child for not knowing the difference between a Wellness Visit and a health issue visit.
I didn’t know there was a difference. As far as I understood, you have a question about your health and well being, you go speak to your doctor.
I didn’t know it was incumbent on the patient to understand pre visit the clarification nuances.
Finally, once I had explained to Dr Kaw some general issues he proceeded to interrupt and finish my sentences for me, several times diagnosing something I hadn’t even mentioned.
I twice had to tell Dr Kaw if he let me finish he would hear what I was telling him.
He continued to tell his assistant to prescribe this or that, and to book labs for this or that, while still I was answering his previous questions to me about my concerns.
Not once did I feel comfortable that Dr Kaw had fully heard anything I had said, or given my health the attention I expect.
I had very high hopes for Dr Kaw as he is very conveniently located and the ratings looked positive.
Maybe I have been spoiled the last 15 years having seen mainly pediatric doctors for my kids, who in comparison are attentive and take all the time to listen and speak with compassion.
Dr Kaw has none of the patience and compassion you would demand from your physician.
I would never recommend this guy to anyone.
