Dr. Gerald Kangelaris

Terms Of Billing Is Upsetting And Dishonest

I visited Dr. Gerald Kangelaris’s office on 10/19/2018 for my hearing consultation. My appointment lasted for about 10-15 mins as I already provided him of my previous hearing test graph.

After this quick consultation, I asked the lady at the front desk about what would be my out of pocket fee, and she said my insurance will cover 100% of my visit.

On 12/26/2018 I opened my insurance page to check my account balance and found that I was charged more than $300.

I was very surprised to find out that I was charged this much for just 10mins consultation.

Even worse, contradicting to what the office lady said, my account showed that I have had significant amount of out of pocket fee.

The service I received from Dr. K was near excellent, but the way they ripped off their clients in terms of billing is upsetting and dishonest.

  1. I was also very pleased with the caring and professional manner of the surgery scheduler and Dr. K's nurse, Rosie.

Dr. Kangelaris got right back to me personally by phone in a timely manner to discuss the upcoming adult tonsillectomy for my son who is a grad student in the SF area, and his dad and I are on the east coast. We want him to do the surgery with the high ratings of this practice and the fact our son really thought he was very thorough, caring and personable, taking his time during the appointment visit.

We are planning to fly out for the surgery, and Dr. K thoroughly answered all of our questions and concerns about this type of surgery. I was also very pleased with the caring and professional manner of the surgery scheduler and Dr. K’s nurse, Rosie.

They appear to do a lot of this surgery very successfully and we prefer to have our son’s surgery with the same doctor who will do the follow-ups in the weeks and months afterwards. Thus far, this practice and doctor get 3 starts for communication, professionalism, doctor/patient interaction and ease of scheduling/planning the procedure.

  2. Scammer

Why am I not surprised that Dr. Kangelaris has only five-star reviews, and I’m about to make it 40 of them total. He is an otolaryngology hero!

Any kind of hearing loss can be socially isolating — even if you know there’s a chance it’s temporary because you’ve had it happen before, due to something believed to be genetic. You lose sight — or should I say sound — of how much interpersonal bonding you’re missing out on by not being able to hear 100% of conversations.

So this last time I came in convinced that a pneumococcus encampment had gotten so entrenched in my right ear that I was about to sustain permanent hearing loss on that side.

Dr. Kangelaris very patiently listened to all of my cause-and-effect analysis of the symptoms, which included pain and insomnia in addition to the typical ear version of congestion-induced hearing loss.
