Faced with potentially more harmful procedures to fix it. It's been absolutely d

I have waited patiently for six months to write about my experience getting plastic surgery with Dr. Dino Elyassnia. I was hopeful all this time that the issues I’ve experienced would resolve by now, but they haven’t. My hopefullness has become hopelessness and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what I have.

So I’m sharing my journey to anyone considering facial fat grafting, I hope you find it helpful.MY EXPERIENCE:THE GOOD: My experience with Dr. Dino Elyassnia and his staff were excellent. I went for numerous consultations before my surgery and he addressed all the questions I had.

My surgical experience was great and I felt well cared for.THE BAD: It wasn’t until a month after the procedure that I came to realize Dr. Dino had not prepared me or set my expectations for what has now been a six month, incredibly difficult and debilitating time in my life. I had no idea things could go this wrong, for this long. Now I’m faced with potentially more harmful procedures to fix it. It’s been absolutely devastating.

I had lower blepharoplasty and rhinoplasty with facial fat grafting. I had not planned on getting fat grafting (neither did I know it existed). I had been getting filler for years and Dr. Dino suggested fat grafting was a more permanent solution and would save me money over the years. The only caveat (he said) was that it would take about 3-4 weeks to recover.

So I thought it was a good decision. I set my expectations and work load so that I could be “out of sight” for a month as to keep this procedure discreet from friends I might not want knowing that I had something done.I had a big event (my own art exhibit) planned six weeks after my scheduled surgery and expressed concern to Dr. Dino that I wouldn’t look normal by then.

He very confidently reassured me that I would. He said the fat grafting would look just like “a tube of filler”. He said I would look ‘fine’ by my event, so I kept my surgery date. I couldn’t attend the event that I planned a year for because I was still so swollen. At our most recent appointment (August 2018) he denied ever having said that, which really made me question his integrity.

The fact is I never would have agreed to this procedure if I new it could take this long to recover. Throughout the months he’s been telling me that I’m an ‘outlier’ in that most patients do recover in 3 months, but I’m just not healing as fast.I also had rhinoplasty and am not happy with the result.

My nose now curves up oddly from certain angles. Dr. Dino says he can’t see it but I think it’s obvious in the pics. The recovery from rhinoplasty has been very easy though….no pain or major swelling in that area. It’s now been six months since my surgery. I am the same weight pre-surgery and followed all the rules.

I slept sitting up for three months, nor did I exercise to minimize swelling. I don’t smoke, and I didn’t drink alcohol for 2 months. Alas, I’m now realizing this is not swelling, TOO MUCH FAT was deposited.THE WORST Dr. Dino is suggesting microliposuction to my face to correct this. Again, he tells me that the recovery is quick…much less invasive than fat grafting.

However, there is no guarantee it will work, the results might even create more unevenness. Dr. Dino said he would do the correction complimentary but he also says he doesn’t see what needs to be fixed. When we look at before and after pictures together he thinks this is an improvement.

I’ll leave it to you to be the judge of the pics I’m sharing. Just about everyone who knows me says “what did you do to your face”? It’s very obvious and looks bizarre, especially when I smile. This procedure completely changed the shape of my face much more than any tube of filler ever did. My cheeks puff out oddly and the area around my lips….it just looks rather Homo Erectus like, not feminine at all.

Dr. Dino says he doesn’t give refunds. So I’m left to pay out of pocket to get consultations with other surgeons. I’m just not sure I can trust what Dr. Dino tells me anymore regarding procedures, risks and recovery times. So I want to make my next move in the safest way possible and make sure I’ve gathered consensus on how to make this right.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER:The before & after photos they show you do not accurately portray the results. They use a flash and ‘blows out’ some of the details and shoot from specific angles that don’t show the full result. For example, I look like a clown in my smiling picture with all this fat in my cheeks.

However, in the resting face pics it doesn’t look as obvious, at certain angles you can’t even tell I did anything. If you want your lips augmented, get filler first and make sure you like how it look before you replace that with fat. Fat is incredibly difficult to remove from the lips, there is no going back.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have just gotten filler – that way you can make it go away if you don’t like it
