Dr. Bart Barrett

Charged Extra

Sadly we love Dr. Bart Barrett and the PA and for having Really good PPO insurance we thought this would be the end of our perfect doctor office search.

Especially since we live down the street. We received a bill for $120 for a digital fee which is an annual bill to be able to talk to the doctor and do other things virtually online.

I have have this option with my daughters’ pediatrics office along with my liver specialist and never have I heard of being charged extra for online services? Unfortunately I was told today that if we decide not to pay this even if we don’t use this option we can find another office.

Well the search continues to find another doctor and PA. Thank you for your services but no thank you.

We already pay enough in insurance let alone more cost for something we would hardly ever use.

  1. What a scam sending fake bills to all on their mailing list!

Went once last year. Doctor was in house, but couldn’t have the decency to look at, or address me as a new patient. Saw assistant. She was angered they had too many new patients.

Most businesses relish new business!? Now, I received a fake $120 bill from them. They said they will cancel the bill..What a scam sending fake bills to all on their mailing list!

  2. Dr. Barrett is a good doctor, but he has a business practice that is a little deceptive

Dr. Barrett is a good doctor, but he has a business practice that is a little deceptive, so I wanted to make people aware of it. He charges a mandatory annual fee due to his extensive digital services of $240. This is fine, as he does offer a lot of services, such as text, voice, and Skype appointments, but here’s the problem.

If you join the practice in the middle of the year, you don’t pay the next annual fee one full year later, you pay it at the beginning of the next calendar year.

So if you join in June, you’ll have to pay the $240 annual payment up front, and then you will be charged a whole $240 more just 6 months later in January. If you join after June, the initial annual fee is prorated, but it is not prorated proportionally.

I joined in July and was initialy charged around $180 if I remmeber correctly, while a proportional prorate would have been around $100. I was then billed for $240 more just 5 months later in January 2019. I informed the nurse I would no longer be coming back after I became aware of this.

I’m sure this information was buried somewhere in the paperwork I signed, but it was not made clear and was not disclosed to me when I first inquired about the annual fee over the phone. In my opinion, this is very deceptive. The annual fee should be charged once every full year,

but if they are going to do at the beginning of the calendar year then the amount should be proportionally prorated based on how much of the year is left, not an arbitrary amount that is essentially overcharging.
