Doc On The Run
insurance ProcessMy son badly injured his foot and Dr. Segler came to the house and patiently explained the treatment and fitted him for a boot. I was pleased with his attention. I paid the bill and sent him the form to get reimbursed by insurance. After waiting a month and a half, Dr. Segler filled out his section and mailed in the form. It came back to me a few days later denied because he didn’t indicate on the form that it was an emergency. The insurance company tried to call him, but his mailbox is full so they couldn’t leave a message. I sent him an email…silence. It seems once he gets paid, Dr. Segler can’t be bothered any further. If you want to get reimbursed by your insurance, expect problems despite what it says below on his website:
Insurance companies (especially PPO plans) will often reimburse a large portion of house call services as an “out-of-network” provider. At the conclusion of your visit, we will provide you with a complete itemization of all charges that you paid for in a format known as a “superbill.” The superbill will outline all of the required diagnosis codes (called ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes) and procedure codes (called CPT codes). With these codes that we provide for you, the insurance company will be able to process the insurance claim that you submit to them.
