They Do Not Care About Long Term Customers
I have been an excellent customer to Ditech since 2005. Not a single late payment.
I had a snafu this summer in which the rate adjusted on my mortgage loan and I had just moved, so I missed the notice in the shuffle.
My payments were on an automated payment system so they kept being sent to Ditech as usual, but they were a little short due to the rate adjustment (approximately $100.00).
When Ditech receives a short payment, they move it into a “suspense account” which then shows that they never received it until the shortage is applied.
Once this happens, they also ding your credit even though technically they had received the payment.
Once I learned I had missed the memo, I called them and paid up asap.
I also agreed to pay a late fee because yes, this was my error, but asked that they remove the ding on my credit as it dropped my credit by 100 points or more (it is devastating to years of good credit to have a single late mortgage payment)!
They have refused after multiple attempts to do this even though I have an excellent credit history with them and every vendor I do business with.
The ding on my credit has caused several issues with applying for a car loan, a student loan refinance and a retail card.
We at furious and still battling this with them. We are also actively looking to re-finance the mortgage with a different company.
After many years of being a good customer, we believe this is much too harsh of a punishment to fit the simple mistake of a “short” payment that was on-time.
Please DO NOT BANK WITH DITECH. They do not care about long term customers.
