  1. As a queer person, it is often difficult to find services that feel inclusive and right away we felt safe with Deb.

When my partner and I began our house hunt last year, the Portland housing market was (and continues to be) incredibly fierce, prices were skyrocketing, and we were rapidly being priced out of the “hip” parts of town. As first time home buyers, we felt in over our heads and decided to ask the Portland Queer Exchange for realtor recommendations. Boy, are we glad we found Deb!

I have never met anyone who enjoys their job more and it certainly shows. She is incredibly diligent, prompt, transparent, meticulous, trustworthy, and so kind. I enjoyed every house visit we made, most of all because of her bubbly personality and charming demeanor that made the whole process seem effortless (at least on our end- it was clear that she was working incredibly hard on her end!).

Deb has the insider knowledge and contacts within the industry and will leverage them on your behalf. She saved us a bunch of money on the inspections and didn’t try to push us into anything the way that I imagine some realtors do.

She paid very close attention to what we were looking for and we instantly felt like we could trust her judgement in such a huge, life-altering decision. As a queer person, it is often difficult to find services that feel inclusive and right away we felt safe with Deb.

  2. Deb is simply fantastic with her knowledge and expertise.

Deb is simply fantastic with her knowledge and expertise. She was very patient in explaining the legal documents, and I really appreciate that. Her insight into what might cause issues and what only looked like a problem was very reassuring.

  3. Neither made me feel good in my stomach.

For three years Deb endured my teetering on the precipice of home ownership. I would dip my toe in the water and shriek away each time. I’d ask a bunch of pointed questions then renew my apartment lease. And she absolutely answered those questions every time without flinching, and with a soothing, calm, knowledgeable tone.

She knew everyone has their own pace and she is patient. I could sense she only gains real job satisfaction when the client is happy and doesn’t feel backed into a corner like a caged animal. So this last time when I approached her, she didn’t roll her eyes with the “Boy who cried ‘Home’,” instead she eagerly answered more questions and gave me words of encouragement about the current real estate climate.

Fast forward to the end of July of this year. We’d been looking around town, and a few places came up here and there. It’s a sellers market right now so it is difficult to find a place that meets all your categories of “Must have, want to have, and can’t have.” I felt a bit relegated to living in the suburbs or far from downtown. Neither made me feel good in my stomach.
