Work was okay but overpriced and charged based on a somewhat obscure hourly rate.
There was no transparency in how the hours were calculated and despite that, I was “nickeled and dimed” for everything – cost of paper copies of my return, cost of mailing the paper copies and my old tax return back to me, cost of initial consultation, etc.
My taxes ended up being prepared by one of his staff members (not him) and there were some issues in responsiveness with him and his staff.
While nothing was done incorrectly, it turns out that there was an unnecessary form filed which only drove up the cost (and hours calculated) even more.
My new accountant looked at the cost of my tax prep last year with David, laughed, and asked if I had been audited (which I wasn’t), but that’s how high his fees were for an otherwise mediocre/average experience.
