I stopped in the other day to see about how to remove the passager side head rest from my 2014 Buick Encore as it blocks about half of the passanger rear widow giving me a pretty large blind spot when backing out, the accessory manager Bill S. Told me the manufacturer makes it so they can not be removed for safety reasons during an accident. I told that made sense but unfortunately they cause me to not be able to see when backing out. If then told me I was driving incorrectly and that I need to get the little stick on mirrirs to add to my side mirrors. I advised him I’ve used them before but they will not assist me bc they will not allow me to see what is being blocked by the headrest, I even showed him what I was talking about thinking it was just a misunderstanding.
He continued to tell me that I do mot need to turn and loo out the passanger rear side mirror. I informed him I am 37 and have been driving since I was 16 and that I don’t need a driving lesson. He wanted to continue to agrue with me about and I kept telling him I know how to drive. I requested his manager. I spoke (used loosely) Denny Yates who had no interest in hearing what I had to say at all. I informed him last I checked this was a car dealership and not a driving school and that he needs to inform his employees of this. He was speaking with me in a very raised voice and told me he (Bill) probably knows that now, I told him should have already known that given his age and should go over with Bill what is and is not in his job description.
I told him I didn’t know if it was a sexist thing or not (I’m a woman) with Bill but I did not appreciate his unsolicited driving lesson. Denny continued to speak with me in a raised voice and I advised him of such but he never lowered his voice and continued to defend Bill. I told him I would never have anything to do with this dealership ever again. My father who was a witness to everything told Denny as we were leaving that I wasn’t wrong and walked out after me. At that point Denny came out the door lended over the handicap rail to yell at me some more bc he heard me tell my father to come on that Denny had his mind made up before he even spoke with that his employee was right and didn’t care what I had to say.
As Denny leaned over the rail he yelled asking how he wasn’t listening to me at which I pointed out how he had been yelling at me from the beginning and only wanted to defend his employee not listen to what happened. He then turned and went back into the service area. There are plenty of other dealerships in the valley and certainly other Buick dealerships that no needs to go to this one and be treated so poorly.
