Community Forklift

Community Forklift is Scammer

Extremely unprofessional and confrontational encounter with donation drivers from Community Forklift – donated numerous construction items (which they sell for a profit) and offered to give an additional $50 tip for taking additional, various items with them (ie paint, drywall etc) – after providing the check the other driver becomes very aggressive, banging on my front door, refusing to leave, yelling and threatening to throw all of the items on my front lawn if I do not give him cash (which the donation form states “cash OR check” and the driver understood payment would be in the form of a check as he gave me his first & last name). In fact, the driver demanded that he FOLLOW ME TO A BANK, so I could pay him cash. (Are you serious??) Needless to say, the police were called and while there the drivers THREW THE ITEMS ALL OVER MY LAWN (see attached pictures) IN FRONT OF THE POLICE – including boards with nails sticking out, oil all over the street, usable tools, grout, drywall IN THE RAIN!! They even threw a cable on a LIVE power line connected to the home while it was raining and sleeting outside!? Unbelievable situation – would never have believed it in 100 years! STAY AWAY!

  2. Very over-priced!

Very over-priced! We usually buy our antique hand tools and salvaged building supplies from the Lancaster, PA area. We find a lot more…more uniqueness, more selection…for literally half the price in PA! Having a husband that’s a builder, and a house that’s full of “farm antiques,” I’ll stick with PA.

  3. Community Forklift

I have been going here since day 1. I made a lot of donations of really good stuff like new Pella doors from model homes that I could not use. I buy what I consider to be a good deal. But beware.

Recently I paid for merchandise and when I returned to pick it up it was stolen. Go figure! Someone walks out with a 6 ft tall x 5ft wide double-door commercial refrigerator and no one sees anything? Yeah, right.

They have put forth no real effort to look through receipts if it got re-sold or review the cameras. This smells bad! Or maybe there is some “good old boy” stuff going on. It is going to be interesting how this turns out once the police starts asking questions. Generally the people are nice.

  4. Like others said, it's not a place for real bargain hunters.

Like others said, it’s not a place for real bargain hunters. I’ve been there several times, picked up a few deals, but none in the last couple years. It’s a nice way to spend a couple hours if you enjoy junk &/ antiques.

I’ve been in enough antique stores to have a good idea what stuff should cost – this place is high. Their collection of random building materials is not cheap; for what they wanted for tile, I can buy it new & not have to worry about having enough.

  5. Excellent pricing and very well organized.

Excellent pricing and very well organized. Thanks for the granite at such a discounted rate. This place is great for deal seekers with a lot of patience.

  6. I've been going there for a couple of years and bought a approximate total of $3.

I’ve been going there for a couple of years and bought a approximate total of $3. However wanted to buy a kitchen. I never seem to get there at the right time for great deals. So today I was looking for railings for porch and inside steps. I found both however they weren’t any prices on the items. I asked at 5:40pm, they since it was 20 min till close won’t be able to price these items. And this was the supervisor.

  7. Be very careful of Decorative Dezign-

Be very careful of Decorative Dezign– we paid 1/2 for a table– it did not work and he never returned to fix it. Took our money and left us with a piece of wood not fastened on to a table. useless. be warned! take your money and run!

  8. DO NOT WAIT YOUR TIME AND GAS.

    I think the people gave this place 4 -5 stars are the people work there, or their friends work there. Why I spend 10 minutes to write this review. I just don’t want you to spend your time and gas to come to this place. This is what I found there;

  9. As a landlord/rehabbe

As a landlord/rehabber, I come here only for used wooden doors, radiators, toilets, lighting fixtures, and the odd 5-gallon bucket of paint. They are the premier source in the region for the former two types of items; I have never seen a better selection.

Within the last 5 years or so, even as their stock has become better-organized, their kitchen cabinet sets, appliances, fireplace surrounds, all the antique/one-offs, and much of the rest have gotten way overpriced, which I believe ultimately damages CF’s mission. Bring a flashlight and, if it’s a month with an “r” in it, a coat and gloves.

  10. This place is awesome!

This place is awesome! I renovated my condo using many supplies (paint, doors, cabinets, handles, sinks, etc.) from Community Forklift. I have also bought desks and other furniture. You never know what you are going to find!
