BE CAREFUL in dealing with Chase Manhattan Mortgage . You would think they would act professionally and ethically coming from a large reputable bank but their mortgage team in Portland clearly does not.
I had several bank offers and they competed to do the home loan of 30% LTV, with a 800 FICO score.
They asked to take the business from a competing lenders and even asked for proof of competitor rates, so they could match the rate.
The got all the necessary bank information and did an onsite verification of the the home value, and put a 90 day lock on the loan, to lock the rate they mentioned.
Then, as interest rates moved up, they disappeared and started making excuses for the delay.
They ran the clock down on the 90 days, and made up a reason at the end, why they couldn’t do the loan.
Clearly their motive was to avoid fulfiling the loan, after rates have moved up and they could loan at a higher rate.
Watch out for loan officers Kimberly Fisher Smith and Brandon Parmelee in Portland, and their underwriting team, who will fight to take you business but back out if the environment changes a little SAVE yourself time and headache and find your mortgage somewhere else!!
