I created an anonymous account to write this review because most of my friends and family have no idea that I had liposuction done, which is how I’d like to keep it. I had this procedure done by Dr. Chang approximately three years ago and I have never stopped regretting it because my body is now permanently deformed. She worked on my thighs, flanks and love handle area, and all are now uneven and asymmetrical.
My inner thighs are different shapes, I have a cavity on one hip the size of a golf ball, and one of my butt cheeks sags and is lower than the other. I have not worn a swimsuit in public since I had the procedure done because I am so embarrassed by how I look. When I spoke with Dr. Chang about the problems, approximately 5 months after the surgery, she basically brushed me off and said everyone’s body is different and the results were likely due to pre-existing issues with my particular body.
I don’t believe that, but if there is any truth at all to her explanation then someone should absolutely have told me before I got the procedure. After speaking with one of her staff, Lisa, Dr. Chang met with me again and said that she could attempt to fix the issues, and all I would have to pay were the hospital fees, but that she didn’t think they could be fixed. I subsequently consulted with three other plastic surgeons who agreed that it would be very difficult to fix what had been done. Shortly thereafter I lost my job and left San Francisco. I’ve been living with my “new” body ever since, and my self esteem has suffered greatly. Not to mention the $11,000 I spent on the procedure.
If you’re considering plastic surgery, think long and hard about whether you’re willing to risk poor results, especially if you work with Dr. Chang. Before the procedure I tried to ask her staff about whether they’d had results in the past that patients weren’t happy with and how they handled it. The nurse she works with told me “That’s never happened.” She also told me that I would be fine to take care of myself after the procedure in spite of what the paperwork says (I was single living alone at the time).
I was NOT fine, I was in extraordinary pain and had to hire someone to take care of me. The pain meds they gave me did next to nothing. So take everything this office tells you with a grain of salt. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.I’m writing this review after all this time because I still have to think about my botched procedure every day when I look in the mirror, and I continue to regret ever having gone to see Dr. Chang. I selected her in part based on her rave reviews on Yelp, and I want to make sure that others know of my experience.
