Brand Mortgage Group

Stay Away From This Company

I applied for a mortgage to buy investment property with Brand Mortgage Group. The process was horrific: repeated demands for the same data, conflicting information about FHA loan requirements, alleged nonreceipt of faxed documents.

I hand-delivered letters detailing my experience to the COO and director of real estate lending, to no effect.

In October, my loan officer said my ap was ‘dead’, but never sent the legally required denial letter.

I’ve filed public formal complaints with desired redress to the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, BBB of Metro Atlanta, and the Georgia Consumer Protection department.

BTW, I got my loan from Associated Credit Union in 3 WEEKS, start to finish.

  1. Very disappointed with the whole process.

Very disappointed with the whole process. I am a well-qualified borrower, so that is not the problem. The problem was the hoops that I had to jump through with this lender. The hoops kept getting higher and more expensive. This was a construction loan, which should have been pretty straightforward. Turns out I had to pay out of pocket for an appraisal.

Then they demanded a building permit prior to even closing the loan. I have since learned from others that no one else requires this. That process alone would have cost about $4000 out of pocket, in addition to the already $400+ I have already paid for the appraisal. And all of that was in addition to my part of the closing.
