I would stay away from BOL Global if you have a COMPLEX TAX ISSUE. They may be fine for your one stop shop to get simple taxes filed, but they can NOT handle professional dealings on a complex level. Brian Odo had sensitive tax documents of mine for over 2 months and did absolutely nothing with them. He told me he was going to resolve some issues I had with the IRS going back 3+ years. He was given all the documents he needed to do this. He canceled appointments, wouldn’t return phone calls or emails, and left us in the dark. He essentially never communicated with us and in the end it was pulling teeth to get our paperwork back from him.
Brian knew from the beginning that we needed to get this issued resolved ASAP for various reasons. He made us believe he was going to help us and in the end he made us endure not only the stress of dealing with a sensitive tax situation with the IRS, but his utter lack of professionalism.During the ordeal Thomas Lin and Benjamin Lee were extremely unwilling to listen and help.
We were lied to several times, including about the simplest things like whether or not Brian was in the office. We left several messages with the office receptionist for Thomas Lin and we were assured he would call us back… he never did. When Thomas and I finally spoke he only argued with me on a personality level regarding my frustration with the lack of professionalism being shown. He never actually tried to help with the problem. He just escalated it with his annoyance.
When Benjamin Lee got on the phone to speak to me he immediately told me to find another CPA because Brian was too busy. Someone with customer service skills apologizes and offers another CPA from the firm to help out. It was a very odd and uncomfortable encounter. Everything escalated over my simple request for my paperwork after BOL had it for 2+ months while doing nothing with it. I would stay away from BOL if you have a complex tax issue. They may be fine for your one stop shop to get simple taxes filed but they can’t handle professional dealings on a complex level.
In summary BOL is the worst customer service experience we have ever had. They ignored calls, lied to us, canceled many appointments on very short notice, and never replied to emails. They kept us from finishing our complex tax issue for months! In the end we went to Millie Yang (whom you can find on Dirty Scam) who was the exact opposite of BOL…Millie doesn’t find it difficult to communicate with her clients. She is is a guru when it comes to complex tax issues and she is prompt and courteous. We would recommend Millie Yang over any of the CPA’s at BOL.
