The entire process has fallen

I wrote a letter to BMW Seattle and BMW North America regarding the problem with our X1. I received calls from both, and several days later a technician drove a loaner to our house and picked up our car for service (its 7th for this issue.) Within a day they had identified the problem, a faulty AC vent near the steering column.

They brought our car back on Monday of this week, and so far the rattle hasn’t reappeared. I am pleased (although still wary it will return) that it has finally been resolved. Unfortunately I discovered a bunch of mysterious grease/lubricant spots all over the interior driver’s side after this 7th service visit. So not only didn’t they go the extra mile and detail my car after all of the problems we’ve endured, but they left it like this.

We Recently bought a brand new X1 and within a couple of months, started noticing a distinct rattling noise coming from the driver’s side dash/steering column. To date, I have taken it to the service department SIX TIMES and it hasn’t been fixed.

The first five times, they thought they identified and fixed the issue (by applying felt tape to contact points) but the sixth time they claimed to not hear anything and said I’d have to come back a 7th time if the rattle returns (which it did, literally on my drive home from the service department.) It’s never been permanently fixed, and our frustration over the entire process has fallen on deaf ears to date. This is our first – and last – BMW.

    Started out good, but quickly went downhill. Website and employees promise price match then backtrack and treat you like a liar when you actually find something cheaper.

    Either the employees are active in misleading actions or they aren’t trained well enough to know what they’re talking about when you try to clarify their own policy, either way I’m going somewhere else from now on. I suggest you steer clear of this bait and switch service center.

    Had my car towed to BMW Seattle when I received a transmission lockout error message on my 528 XI. Was quoted $10,000 to replace the transmission and charged $180.00 for the diagnostics. Sold the car to an independent BMW mechanic who repaired the transmission for $350 in parts. Resale value of the car is between $5 and $7 thousand. Shame on you BMW and giving serious consideration to reporting this dealership to the BBB.

    Aweful service with a sense of the staff looking down at you as soon as you walk in. I felt like i was there to apease them then the other way around. Really sad. I never will walk in there again. Also left and went to Audi University . They were incredible and ended up buying a new car from them.

  4. Do not buy a car here because you have to deal with the service department.

    The service department is void of customer service and we are very sorry to be on warranty because we would never go back. The check in process took 1 hour, we had a tire with a nail in it and were not told that patching could be an option elsewhere,

    we were only offered the solution to purchase a new tire. were not asked if we wanted the tire back which had been disposed of within 4 hours, the car was not washed and the General Manager did not care at all. Do not buy a car here because you have to deal with the service department.


    1. When you loaner car make sure check fully and windshield rock chip. Make sure bmw write down everything. If something happend they will rip you off

    2. Do not leave any stuff even garage door opener. They will just throw it away or steal it and tell you they don’t have it or saw it.

    3. When bmw go over your car checking up dents, scratches make sure you are stand next to him. Otherwise they make dent and scratches on your car and tell you it was already have been there before.

    This Seattle BMW fully BS. Stealing stuff and make your car damage. And dents. And their excuses are “it was there before”

  6. I came here this morning without an appointment.

    I came here this morning without an appointment. My tires were a little low on air and it also need an oil change. This is my first car service since I bought the “brand new” car here. After initial discussion, there were two gentlemen coming out for helping and fix the issue today. They asked me to wait for our car fixed.

    But after ten minutes, another person came out and handed me the key, and asked me to make an appointment for the oil change for another day. I was completely shocked and stunned by this horrible, ignorant and bad attitude service. I am here at the Service department and asked me to call in for making appointment.

    I am on the market to buy a new car. I stopped by today to check out the 2016 X4 & X6. I walked through the door. There were 2 people sitting at the front desk on their phones – neither one of them acknowledge me or even looked at me. I looked around & walked around hoping that one of their sales people would’ve LEAST acknowledge my presence. (I even walked by the front desk several times & the 2, reps. still did not acknowledge me).


    WORST SERVICE EVER…took BMW in for a scheduled oil change and was treated with disrespect waiting for over 2 hours. Customer service was terrible and this dealership has no integrity!

    Would not recommend this dealership or service to anyone since it is owned by Lithia Motors and management have been under investigation for fraud. Stay clear away…there are other BMW dealerships with integrity and will treat you with respect.

    Researched this dealership and found it is owned by Lithia Motors and has been under investigation for fraud and even their employees at have complained about the management of this dealership.

    So two friends and I walked through the door, looking to buy an BMW M3. We walked in, no one greeted us. It seems like the receptionist was more busy talking and looking at another employee’s phone than greet us. We wandered around the show room for a few minutes, again no one batted an eye at us.

    Additionally there were another Asian customer looking around at the vehicles too and no one greeted him either. This was on Father’s Day Sunday around 230pm. My friend made a comment to the receptionist regarding their poor customers service and we left. If they don’t want our business we’ll take it somewhere else.

  11. There are people that are loyal to the car and service but somthing went wrong at airport way for the less desireables.

    My girlfriend and I have plenty of bmw’s and have bought from the original Phill Smart who was very up front honest. Now do to finantial situations i’m going to do the work myself i’m somewhat machanical so I decided to take on a bemer my girfriend had an accident in,

    broke axle, rear control arm, flange , bearing, ect, well problems with pressing the axle through the flange. Called last week and thought they were helpfull saying they had the tool and about 50$ i could bring it in and no problem, called next day to see if i could bring it down and they said their tool broke the night before, REALLY?

    We had an excellent experience at BMW Seattle. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. We worked with Randall Nakamura for about a week before coming in to make our purchase. It was well worth the trip from the Peninsula.

    He took the time to understand exactly what we wanted and needed and suggested a few different things. He worked with his manager to get us a fair price for our trade and our purchase.

    He assured us he will continue to assist us with whatever we may need over the years of ownership to come. Randall is an outstanding professional who really cares about his customers. We highly recommend him and BMW Seattle for your car buying needs.

He was responsive to my messages and answered all of my questions in detail.     Bought a custom ordered BMW from this dealership earlier this fall. The whole process took about 2 months during which the sales person, Mr. Randall Nakamura, was always very patient and friendly and never pressured or rushed me in anyway. Not a typical car dealership environment where you fell like being in a pressure-cooker. Thank you guys, for a great experience!

    I just leased a BMW X5 40e from BMW Seattle and I must say, my experience with Randall Nakamura was a truly painless car buying experience. I had contacted all of the local (and some not so local) BMW dealers and my experience with Randall was far and away the best of any dealership around. I would highly recommend him to anyone in the market for a BMW.

    We were in and out with a new car as well as a lease trade-in in less than 45 minutes. Has to be close to a record. Not only did we get the car in that time, but he also walked us through all of the features of our new car. Great !experience.
