I would not recommend bhhc insurance company even if it would be the only insurance company left. In just 8 months, Berkshire Hathaway insurance company made me furious after what I had to deal with it. I own a trucking company and my leased trucks were insured with them. When added one more leased truck to the list and got it insured through them as well. The insurance covered the full liability and collision insurance. When I insured the trucks with them, I asked them for the certificate of Insurance listing the full coverage which they provided after few follow-ups.
Few months back, my driver had an accident with one of the trucks and we checked with our insurance company. I discovered that they had not added the Collision coverage to the insurance policy. When I tried to get the matter sorted, they added backdated cost of the Collision insurance and asked to pay the entire remaining balance within two weeks. I own a small company and have three trucks. It was difficult for me to pay that amount in that short period of time, but I did as they had left no other option.
The driver left my company after the accident. The new leased driver who joined the company was already insured with collision and I only asked them for a liability and cargo coverage. At first, they did not agree. After two weeks of continuous discussion, they finally agreed. I paid the down payment and received a COI and I thought that to be good this time. However, when another driver joined, and we asked for the same liability and cargo coverage, they realized that they never added the prior one to the insurance plan. They again charged us retroactively for unpaid four months and wanted me to pay the difference at once. We paid them $10000 with two instalments.
I suffered a lot of problems while handling this company for my truck and driver insurance. Even when my truck was damaged, it took them one month to provide the claims for the same and the truck was in the garage for the entire month. This got me into a huge loss. I had to rent a truck for that period. I paid for that too. Because of these series of mistakes, I had to spend a lot of money in small time interval which affected my business a lot.
The company did not bother about the mistakes that it did and kept on adding charges. Later, I cancelled all my insurance policies with this company after suffering a total loss of more than $10000. This was their mistake and I paid for it. It was insane, and I would make sure that the message reaches as many people as possible. This company is full of irresponsible and unprofessional people who do not know what these mistakes costs to their customers. They neither value their work, not their customers.
