Beneficial Bank
Customer Service Availability Is Really InconvenientI’ve never been to a branch, so this is just a review for Beneficial Bank in general.
I have a loan through Beneficial. I spent forever trying to figure out how to create an online account.
Every time I tried, I’d get an email telling me to call them to complete the process.
Eventually, I called them, and they set it up for me.
The woman on the phone said, oh, your username is your social and what is your password? Nowhere on the website did it tell me my username was my social security number, and I had never set up an account, so obviously I didn’t know my password.
She then proceeded to tell me that if I didn’t have a Beneficial checking out, it was impossible to make loan payments online, and that it was impossible for them to send me e-bills.
Turns out I can make my loan payments online without any problem from my Bank of America checking account, so I’m not sure why the customer service rep said that wasn’t possible.
Still can’t get e-bills (or even paper bills), so that’s annoying.
The other thing that bugs me is that I can’t change any of my information online (phone, address).
I have to call. Adding to the problem is that you can only call until 6:00pm.
Their branches may be fine, but for someone who is used to solely banking online, my experience hasn’t been great.
I know a lot of people like small, local banks, but their customer service availability is really inconvenient for me and their online banking is not up to par.
I don’t think I’d ever open another account with Beneficial.
