Ballard Modern Dentistry
Clearly not invested in their health of their patientsFirst of all, their billing is confusing. I should have gotten a free exam through my insurance but they managed to uncharge me to a $99 appointment fee. I didn’t think much of it at the time, thinking maybe it was justified, but now I see a pattern emerging. I talked to my new dentist today about what they recommended and he was shocked that they had recommended over $2000 worth of work (crown replacements) and told me it needed to be done as soon as possible.
I thought it was odd that my dentist BEFORE Ballard Modern Dentistry hadn’t thought I needed to replace the few crowns I have but thought maybe something changed in the year between appointments. But now the dentist I saw AFTER them tells me there’s absolutely no reason to replace them all at this point? I smell a scam.
Dr Raber told me that crowns need to be replaced every 7-10 years. She said it was surprising that mine lasted as long as they did (about 15 years). The dentist I just saw said that was totally untrue and that crowns can potentially last a lifetime with proper dental hygiene and that he’d be concerned if a patient of his needed to replace his that often. (If you’re in the Portland area and want to avoid this horrible place, and need a dentist you should see my other review for the details on where I’m going now.)
This office has a pricey CEREC crown machine and it’s pretty clear they need to push as many people to use it as possible to justify that expense. They basically told me doing crowns any other way would be an extreme hassle and totally worth the extra couple hundred dollars. Reviews online of CEREC crowns say that it’s really not worth the extra cost. Avoid this place and all their “Modern Dentistry” counterparts, this chain is clearly not invested in their community or the health of their patients.
I will be sure to recommend Ballard modern Dentistry to all my friends and family.
I couldn’t have been more satisfied with my visit. The receptionist was able to answer my questions. I came in to have a cleaning and some fillings done. The dentist that took care of me was great. He took his time explaining every procedure and that really put me at ease. I will be sure to recommend Ballard modern Dentistry to all my friends and family.
With no concern by the staff that I was waiting this long I told them that I won't be back.
I checked in 10 minutes before my first appointment and after confirming my info and insurance with the staff member I took a seat in the waiting room. I waited 30 minutes then 45 minutes and finally checked in with the staff again and they seemed shocked that I was waiting for my appointment. With no concern by the staff that I was waiting this long I told them that I won’t be back.
