ATLAS Home Inspection

how homes are constructed and what is actually a safety hazard

ATLAS Home Inspection recently inspected our condo which is only 7 years old and in great condition. When the final report was written the worst thing on it was that the HVAC should be inspected and serviced.

This makes sense and is something I would want mentioned if someone was doing a home inspection. Unfortunately, when he did the inspection with the buyer he didn’t keep to what he wrote in the report or he didn’t explain it to her correctly.

He walked around the condo and terrified the buyer and apparently made the place sound like a death trap. The woman’s realtor was shocked by the behavior and actually apologized to us about it. Things listed in the report as minor and not a hazard were apparently played up as big deals.

This included getting a certified electrician to inspect plastic socket covers, telling the buyer to install a cutoff switch on the hot water heater (this is not required by anyone and no new construction does this), and the dryer needed to be professionally dismantled to remove lint.

The buyer not knowing any better walked away from a perfectly safe place after being scared to death by nonsense. If you want someone to inspect your new purchase look to someone who is more knowledgeable about how homes are constructed and what is actually a safety hazard.

  1. Works hard for the buyer

ATLAS Home Inspections is one of the best out there. The inspections are thorough and comprehensive – and totally objective. ATLAS does not rubber stamp a home for the realtor. He works for his client – the buyer.
As a result, sometimes the buyer will walk away from deal. This can really upset the seller. As a result, the seller will seek methods to disparage the home inspector. The seller will tell themselves all sorts of false stories about what the inspector must have said to the buyer.
If you are a seller, you better hope ATLAS is not your buyer’s home inspector, because he WILL find all the issues with the home you are selling.
If you are the buyer, you better have ATLAS as your home inspector – because he works for YOU – not the seller or the agents.
There are a lot of home inspectors out there that just do a cursory inspection and play softball for the realtors. ATLAS is not one those. ATLAS is a truly professional organization

  2. I recommend that you DO NOT use this service.

I recommend that you DO NOT use this service. “Ed” just cancelled one hour before he was due at the property. Ed was abrupt, rude, and unprofessional. His computer did not receive the contract form I filled out on-line. He admitted having trouble with his computer,

but chose to blame me for a “bad link”. Wrong. I told him to bring the contract with him and I would sign and pay before we went in the unit. He hung up the phone. Avoid this business. DT WHITE

  5. The inspection price alone was very reasonable and he was even available afterwards when I had follow up questions from the sellers.

became a first time home buyer and had no idea where to begin with home inspections. When I sent my request to Ed, he was very responsive and setting up the appointment was a simple entry of the your information and home details.

Ed was promptly at the home when he said he would be (the scheduled appointment time) and he guided me through his entire inspection. He answered all my questions (I had a lot), explained his process (I walked behind him and took pictures the entire time), and presented his findings in a clear and concise report. My realtor was quite impressed.

  6. I highly recommend Atlas Home

During the inspection, Ed took his time assessing the unit and provided a great deal of detail regarding the issues he found. After the inspection, ED sent me the detailed report within 24 hours. As a first time home owner, I learned A LOT of valuable information during the inspection.

My only regret is that I didn’t hire him when I did the initial home inspection before buying the unit. Overall, I highly recommend Atlas Home Inspection and greatly appreciate Ed’s knowledgeable and meticulous approach. Thank you!
