Ananya Spa Seattle

I'm not comfortable with a male masseuse

I tried Ananya Spa Seattle because it’s close to where I live. Eliza gives good massages, so when I was offered a discount for referring friends, I made the referrals. When I attempted to use the discount, though, they showed their true colors. I booked a massage online specifically with a female masseuse, Leilani, and received a confirmation email showing my appointment with Leilani.

When I showed up, they tried to give me a male masseuse and said Leilani had another appointment. When I tried to reschedule because I’m not comfortable with a male masseuse, they said they would not honor the discount. So, not only did they bait and switch me without offering me anything for my inconvenience, but they won’t even honor their own discount!

  1. I have watched her business grow and her reputation in the spa community is highly respected.

As an aesthetician I felt the service I received from Julianne exceeded my expectations. Her product knowledge and information she supplied during my treatment was impressive. I have had waxing treatments at Ananda in the past by a recently departed employee based on references and have to say I was disappointed in the bedside manner.

I felt rushed and the condescending attitude was insensitive. I learned how not to treat my clients. Julianne heard my concerns and more than made up for my poor experience. I have watched her business grow and her reputation in the spa community is highly respected.

  2. I would like to see easier to find parking, but they have done a wonderful job with an industrial space.

Julianne is so caring and cheerful. I always feel well taken care of, even during waxing appointments! The scheduling is always flexible and the girls go out of their way to accomodate my crazy life. I would like to see easier to find parking, but they have done a wonderful job with an industrial space.

  3. It wasn't extremely fancy, but it was cute enough.

I really enjoyed a recent facial I got here through a promotion. It wasn’t extremely fancy, but it was cute enough. The facial itself was mostly pleasant. I liked the survey they give you about preferences during treatment. However, the neck massage I was given during the facial was super hard and had me sore afterwards. I am used to deep pressure but it was too much.

I liked how they ask you if you would like recommendations for skin care products instead of forcing you to listen to them try sell you products. I would definitely go back.

  4. I think if you are providing a service you should leave your personal problems at home and that this was not a good excuse.

I don’t know about other people, but to me a massage means silence and relaxing. The technichian talked the entire time and complained about her boyfriend and personal problems. I tried to be nice and let her know I was here to relax, but she didn’t seem to get the point. I was very unhappy with the service.

Little to be said I did not leave her a tip and she seemed pretty annoyed. I let her know I was not tipping because she was very late and I was not relaxed due to her talking, and she got offended and blamed personal problems. I think if you are providing a service you should leave your personal problems at home and that this was not a good excuse.

  5. I will never return to this spa.

First I got there 10 minutes early and noone greeted me or signed me in for my appointment. I had to wave down a girl who was busy chatting to get her to notice me and let her know I was there for an appointment. She seemed angry that I interrupted her conversation, but she proceeded to check me in. At that point she informed me that my technichian for my massage was running late and to take a seat.

So I assumed late was like 5-10 minutes. NO! The technician got there 30 minutes late and did not even apologize for making me wait. Talk about rude service. I really wanted to relax and have a good massage so I decided to go ahead and continue with the service. I was wrong again about the relaxing part.

  6. I've been going to Ananya for about 3 years now and I love everything about the spa

I’ve been going to Ananya for about 3 years now and I love everything about the spa, the massages are my favorite hands down. Eliza is amazing! Facials, waxing services, and products offered are top notch. Everyone is professional and really nice, too!

  7. I will not be returning and do not recommend.

I felt my specific skin needs were overlooked and their focus was sales. The treatment they told me I would benefit from was the oxygen facial. I wasn’t sure how it would help my hyper pigmentation (my main concern) but they assured me that it would prevent breakouts and even out my skin tone. It was a VERY expensive 20 minute facial.

Days later, I was breaking out and saw no improvement in my skin. They also sold me a serum that was to help my hyper pigmentation if used daily, unfortunately, it too was very pricey and after 2.5 weeks of use, there has been no improvement. I will not be returning and do not recommend. There are other spas that are less expensive and more intuitively involved in your skins needs.

  8. Dont Use This Company.

decent massage therapists. but went there today (arrived at 10:58am for an 11am service), paid for an 80 min massage and got 72 minutes. when I arrived, they put me in a waiting room and gave me tea. apparently waiting in a waiting room counts toward your massage time!

careful: make sure you time them. i mentioned it to the front desk, they went to talk to the therapist. and indeed, they verified they cut me short. 8 minutes isn’t nothing when you’re paying $1.85 a minute. for the price, the service should be more reliable.
