Pleasant and competent to deal with…BUT… I applied for a refinance in April when rates were near an all time low.
Amerifund Lending Group promised 3.375 rate & an APR of 3.464 with a 45 day rate lock.
I got all my paperwork in to Amerifund within 24 hours!
They dragged things out for 117 days till rates were significantly higher. With fees for rate lock extensions the loan finally closed at 4% APR.
They blamed it on Fannie Mae, and the form the appraiser used…and in the end…claimed “Fannie Mae made an exception” to accept the appraisal… Thats BS, Fannie Mae doesn’t make “exceptions” and the appraiser was correct in the form he used. ….but I believe Amerifund or the underwriter purposefully stalled the process as rates were raising rapidly.
I feel like I was manipulated. It was a long process with too much drama.

Mike is the best at what he does! After hearing so many nightmare stories about how long short sale properties can take to close, we were in shock to have it all done within a month and that’s all thanks to Mike! He made our first homeowner experience extremely easy…I would recommend him to anyone.

We just finished our refinance with Mike Barnes of Amerifund Lending Group. We did not have a simple refinance or an easy one as our credit had been greatly damaged by Ocwen, a loan servicer whom our loan servicing rights had been sold to by Chase.
Two other mortgage brokers were not willing to help us clear up our credit but Mike worked tenaciously and diligently first to clear up the damage Ocwen had done and then to complete our re-fi. When we didn’t get the appraisal we wanted, Mike went through the entire process again to get us a VA loan and a much better appraisal.
Through many obstacles that discouraged us, Mike continued to work on our behalves and was not disillusioned (or didn’t show us that he was). He stayed in touch with us constantly and moved the process along.
We got a great rate and our re-fi is complete! We could not be happier with his service. Mike is an intelligent, honest, hard working man whom I would not hesitate to recommend.
