Airbenders was dishonest with their pricing, did not honor things they told me on the phone, took two visits to fix my HVAC (charging me for both), and tried very hard to sell me a new system instead of fixing it–I would NOT use this company again.

My HVAC went out this summer and I called Airbenders to fix the problem. They told me I had a refrigerant leak and charged me $250 to add refrigerant. This did not fix the problem and they came out again a few weeks later. Prior to their arrival I called their customer service and was assured that I would be credited that $250 towards the current fix, since adding refrigerant did not solve the problem. The technician then told me I had a restriction in my system and told me that he could flush the system for $400-450, but would not guarantee it would work and tried very hard to sell me a new HVAC system.

I ultimately decided to flush the system, which fixed the problem and my unit has been working well since. However, after completion, the technician charged me $650 for the service. I could not fully understand his explanation for the difference in price because he did not speak English well. He, and his supervisor (Sam?) after I called him, also refused to honor the $250 credit that another company employee told me I would receive.

In an attempt to be accommodating and so the technician could leave for his next job, I agreed to pay $550 for the service after the supervisor told me he would speak to whoever I talked to earlier in the day to resolve the final price. But he did not call me back, and they have ignored subsequent phone calls and emails from me.

  1. thats not an issue, but they didnt shown up the day which they provide me for repair

    i called them when my ac was not working. they charge me $180 just for investigate and finding the issue, even though i told them what exactly was happend what need be changed.

    To access the outside units, AirBenders took my pool storage out and took a bush out. They promised to return everything to the original state upon the completion of the job. They left everything in disarray!

    The pool storage container was left on the deck by my pool, the bush that they took out of the ground was left somewhere in the yard. My requests to the company to take care of the mess were ignored.

  4. The sad part is that when i spoke with David about the issue

    I have been working with AirBenders for several years and quite happy with their work. They installed three units for me and they have done a good job. Recently they did my fall maintenance service for my two units and i was extremely disappointed. First, i did not receive a call –as i had requested–when the technician was on his way. More importantly, they serviced my two units in less than 30 minutes.

  5. Just plan your outages accordingly or wait if you can!

    It was 97 degrees in our upstairs zone on Saturday evening when I went upstairs! I called Airbenders at 8:30 Sunday morning, and they had a technician at our house by noon. The capacitor was fried, but the tech had it on his truck and everything was fixed within 15-20 minutes. He was very knowledgeable, consultative, and professional. Everything with the service was top notch, and was a 5 out of 5. The only negative was that we had to pay $180 service call fee because it was Sunday.

    If it had been any other day it would have been $89, and while that was all disclosed up front, we didn’t have a choice to wait until Monday because of work commitments. I don’t blame them for charging the premium, as they pay their techs overtime on Sundays, but it was a big pill to swallow for such a short visit. Just plan your outages accordingly or wait if you can!

  6. I definitely recommend this company for the Northern Virginia Area

    Our water heater and Heating system failed. Our technician, David, came out to Alexandria, Virginia (VA) was a great guy and knowledgeable. From working on these systems for so long,

    he almost had a sixth sense about what could be the problem from the symptoms I provided him. He explained everything to me as he fixed the problem. I definitely recommend this company for the Northern Virginia Area
