I was seeking a dental practice that offered implant services, preventative dental services and was within my dental insurance coverage network: 8 to 8 Dental fulfilled these requirements. On my first visit to 8 to 8 Dental, I provided 8 to 8 Dental with the names and policy numbers of my two dental insurance providers, AARP/Dental and Humana.
Recently , 8 to 8 Dental provided me with an estimate of my out-of-pocket costs for two implants, both to be completed during a single visit: my total out-of-pocket costs were to be a total of $960.00.The next Day, 8 to 8 Dental provide me with another estimate of my out-of-pocket cost for my two implants. My total out-of-pocket costs were revised upward to $2,526, an increase of over 250%.
When asked to explain the over 250% increase in my out-of-pocket costs, the staff at 8 to 8 Dental responded that the increase was due to the coverages provided by, or not provided by, each of the two dental insurance policies.
I asked the staff to 8 to 8 Dental to rationalize the fact that before the Recently estimate they had all of the insurance information required to provide an accurate out-of-pocket cost at that time but yet the cost estimate still increased over 250%: the staff did not offer any rationale. I cancelled my appointments and, following my request, received all of my dental records.
If your dental needs are limited to routine check-ups and cleanings, 8 to 8 Dental may be the practice for you. However, if your dental needs are more significant, as my needs were, you may want to consider another dental practice, a dental practice that will provide reliable, trustworthy and honest estimates.
