I have never been so disgusted with anything and anyone as I am with VCA Animal Hospital Management and staff. My pain for losing my dog was not even calmed and VCA Animal Hospital gave me another stroke. I had to say goodbye to my dog few days back which was the hardest thing anyone can imagine. I did that at my regular pet clinic and not VCA Hospital. The people were supportive and had the empathy to relate to my pain. I was atleast convinced that she was in good hands during her last few minutes.

Me and my mom were trying to recover with the pain. I usually feed animals including cats outside of my house and one of the cats allowed us to take her home. She recently gave birth to kittens and I was happy to share the love of my chica with these kittens.

One night, a kitten fell off and was in very bad condition. My vet stayed a bit far so admitted him to a VCA Hospital which was closer. It was an emergency entry and had to be given priority. It was 2:30 AM and still all dark outside. Looking at his condition, I was well aware of the coming fate but wanted to try my best and give it the last try to save him.

They took the kitten from my hands and asked me and mom to stay outside. I wanted to be with him in the examination room but wasn’t allowed and I do not know why. It took them hour and a half to come back to us. They asked for my agreement for allowing the fluid through the veins which I did. But these bastards couldn’t find his vein and put the needle in his bone. The doctor informed us about it and asked us to wait again. After another half an hour, they handed a piece of paper with $1000 written on it.

I kept on asking about the kitten but the answer was always no. They did not let me see my kitten. The doctor said the chances are negligible and we can take her home. But I stayed rigid and wanted them to help. I waited and waited and they kept us waiting.

At last, I was out of my mind and started forcing them to bring him to me. They brought him in a box with a paper to be signed. The paper said that I didn’t do what the doctor at VCA Hospital suggested. This was outrageous for me and I couldn’t take it. I told that the doctor was the one who insisted on taking the kitten home. But nothing made them change their cold heart. I had to do the needful and pay my bills of $1000 for nothing.

I took him home and tried to feed him but he was not able to swallow. I tried my best and then gave up. I kept on talking to him and tried to reduce his pain through the comfort of love and compassion. But I knew I will have to go through it again. Finally, I put him to rest beside my Chica. But I wish to spread this inhuman practice for making people aware of the act. This invokes action.

  1. Why you should not have Tiffany Green or this VCA treat your loving pet.

    I hope that by reading my REVIEW, it will help you understand my opinion of (3) three Veterinarians: Sarah Carotenuto in Tucson, AZ (VCA), Tiffany Green in Irving, TX (VCA) and Sofia Morales in Tallahassee, FL (Capital Veterinary Specialists) who CONTRIBUTED TO KILLING OUR BELOVED DOG, GERTRUDE, during mid to late July and early August 2021!

    I will be providing you the DETAILS of HOW THESE THREE VETS:
    – DEVASTATED our lives, when they INTENTIONALLY IGNORED & ABANDONED our beloved Pomeranian baby girl Gertrude (and us) for OVER THREE WEEKS, when she was ill, in what turned out to be in her final illness;
    – KNEW that they were Gertrude’s main providers and had been for close to 5 years, and that we had paid them EVERY DIME THEY ASKED!;
    – KNEW that Gertrude was in need of immediate care;
    – KNEW that we were contacting them and BEGGING them for their help;
    – PURPOSELY IGNORED US & OTHER VETS; and,
    – CONTRIBUTED TO AND PRECIPITATED HER DEATH that occurred on August 6, 2021!
    – KILLED the one thing in our lives that meant the World to us (my husband is still devastated over this situation and in losing her); and,
    – TOOK OUR MONEY & that MONEY $$$ is their main drive & their main concern. $$$ MONEY, $$$ MONEY, $$$ MONEY, & THAT IS IT!;
    I also hope that by reading my review, it will help you understand MY REASONS WHY THESE 3 VETERINARIANS SHOULD NOT BE IN PRACTICE NOR SHOULD THEY BE TREATING ANIMALS & WHY I WOULD NEVER REFER TO THEM, OR PAY THEM ANOTHER DIME EVER AGAIN & WHY YOU SHOULD NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS TO SEE THEM!

    HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED:
    Gertrude, a beautiful redheaded Pomeranian, was born March 2012 and she WAS LOVED ???? BY EVERYONE!! And, I mean EVERYONE! There was no where we went that people didn’t know her and ask for her and when we left her home they would always ask us how she was doing. Everyone wanted to pet her and cuddle her and she let them.
    -She was the best dog and the BEST friend EVER!

    Gertrude was born a beaver albino Pomeranian (she had a cream colored nose). Later into her life, about 5 years, in 2017, she developed 3 medical conditions: ITP; Diabetes and bouts of Pancreatitis. These conditions were tricky to manage and she was on several medications, but she was under medication control and she was stable. My husband spent countless hours each week making sure her medication was administered on time and Gertrude wanted to live so she took ever shot and pill with gratitude.

    For almost 5 years we took her to see the THREE VETERANARIANS named above, and for her last two years, her main vet was Sofia Morales in Tallahassee, as we had moved to Florida
    – all THREE VETS CONTINUED TO BE HER SPECIALISTS.
    We had to travel between two cities, Dallas and Tucson, for several years before we moved to Miramar Beach, Florida – and then we traveled between three cities. Because of her medical needs, we set up these Specialists in all 3 cities to treat her as needed. ALL OF THESE SPECIALIST VETS KNEW THAT THEY WERE GERTRUDE’S MAIN MEDICAL PROVIDERS AND THEY KNEW HER MEDICAL CONDITION SERIOUS & THAT THEY WERE HER ONLY PROVIDERS. When we traveled, we contacted each one to make them aware that we would be in town. And we paid every one of their Vet bills for over 5 years!
    For over 5 years, the three of them took our money, and I mean MONEY! Well OVER $100,000 for vet visits, diagnostic tests, blood work, medications and hospitalizations (my husband and I would do anything to keep our best friend Gertrude alive, and we did). On top of her daily medications, and shots, Gertrude had to have her blood tested every 2 to 3 weeks, as needed, and we changed her medications if the ones prescribed weren’t working, we took her to regular Vet appointments to get medication refills and blood tests and we PAID FOR whatever was prescribed or ordered by these 3 Vets.
    We were totally on top of Gertrude’s care and we watched her like a hawk. Through July 2021, Gertrude was alive and doing well.
    WELL, ALL OF THIS CHANGED in July 2021 when Gertrude wouldn’t eat, so we knew from past episode that this was a critical time and she needed to be seen by her Specialist right away! At that time, we were in Tucson and Gertrude had previously been seen by Vet, Carotenuto for her blood tests. When she stopped eating, WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED & EMAILED Vet, Carotenuto. It was strange but she refused to respond to our calls and emails. So we took her to her clinic, VCA and she refused to be involved in Gertrude’s care, or to respond or to see Gertrude when we brought her to VCA Clinic, specifically to see her. Keep in mind, this refusal was AFTER WE HAD PAID HER & VCA TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars in the past 4 plus years in treating Gertrude. We weren’t happy, so we asked and we were told by her staff that Carotenuto was staying home because she was maybe afraid of Covid (Covid which I had already had 3 times, Big Deal) and we were told she was not sick (she was probably at the Vet School or home). Regardless, because of her REFUSAL to respond or to see Gertrude at her clinic, one of their Vets MISDIAGNOSED GERTRUDE. She also did not read Gertrude’s extensive file and therefore didn’t even bother to take a simple blood test or even a urine test!! The Vet at VCA 22nd St. Tucson discharged Gertrude and committed malpractice by telling us to give her more insulin! (Insulin that almost killed her! because as it turns out she was hypoglycemic). We did as the VCA Vet instructed and later that night Gertrude got worse, so when we took her to the Emergency clinic on River & they took her blood & urine and the Vet there found that she was hypoglycemic! She DID NOT NEED INSULIN!! By VCA misdiagnosing her earlier that day, and by telling us to give her insulin, and by Carotenuto refusing to speak to us or see her, VCA almost killed Gertrude and because of their over-prescribing insulin to a dog that was in shock for no sugar, her immune system worsened. DURING NON-INTERACTION with CAROTENUTO & the negative behavior of VCA Tucson, it was IN FACT, APPARENT that they did not want to be bothered, but they sure did DEMAND TO BE PAID. So, we paid their bill.

    WHAT VCA DID TO GERTRUDE CAUSED GERTRUDE TO GET WORSE:
    BY Carotenuto’s behavior in refusing to speak to us or get involved in Gertrude’s care (Carotenuto was contacted by VCA & refused care while Gertrude was at VCA), and because of her clinic’s misdiagnosis of Gertrude that almost killed her, and because it weakened Gertrude’s immune system, this attack started Gertrude on a downward path of more critical illness!!

    IT GETS WORSE!
    After VCA’s Misdiagnosis almost killed Gertrude, and with VCA VETERANARIAN GREEN, being our Vet in Irving TX, we IMMEDIATELY got in our RV and traveled to Dallas to see Green. We also contacted Vet, Green at VCA, to tell her that Gertrude was on her way & so she could be seen by Green & diagnosed. However, we were SHOCKED, when instead of helping Gertrude & responding to our calls, emails & texts, that (!*@#!*) Greene ALSO REFUSED to see Gertrude or return our calls, emails or texts, again AFTER WE HAD PAID HER TENS OF THOUSANDS $$$$ OF DOLLARS! And, as it comes to find out, she also used Covid as an excuse!

    It was obvious to us that the top Vets at VCA were deciding who they would see or not see and it was my belief that they were refusing to see critical or difficult patients because they were getting PPE Covid funds & they didn’t care if the animals that needed them were in need of critical care or not. At VCA in Irving, TX, when we asked, we were told that Green didn’t have Covid she just didn’t want to come in and she did not respond. We WERE IN SHOCK! We also begged for Carotenuto’s and Green’s assistance in getting Gertrude the Aranesp & Epogen medication that she needed when she was dying! YET, THERE WAS NOTHING!! NO RESPONSE NO ASSISTANCE up to the time she died!

    IT GETS MUCH WORSE:
    AFTER BEING ABANDONED BY A SECOND VCA VETERANARIAN, we were left with travelling back to our home in Florida to see Vet, Sofia Morales who had been giving Gertrude maintenance care for over two years. We needed SOMEONE who could help OUR SWEET BABY DOG, a dog that needed her Specialists and TO NOT BE ABANDONED; a dog who did NOT need a new Vet or a Vet who didn’t know her or her conditions or her medications, and Gertrude absolutely didn’t deserve to be abandoned by them when she was VERY ILL & when GREEN and CAROTENUTO had CONTRIBUTED TO HER BEING ILL!

    GETRUDE IS WEAKENING:
    We contacted Vet, Sofia Morales late July 2021, and we let her and her clinic know that we were on the way with Gertrude to see them. AND YES, we had also, PAID MORALES TENS OF THOUSANDS OF $$$$ OUR DOLLARS IN THE PAST 2 years!

    At her clinic, Morales ordered and performed tests, and Gertrude stabilized, HOWEVER, knowing that she was in a weakened condition, SHE GAVE GERTRUDE A BIOPSY/SCOPE TEST WHICH DIRECTLY CAUSED GERTRUSE’S DEATH BY CAUSING AN INFECTION TO ENTER HER INTESTINES!!

    HER ILLNESS GETS CRITICAL:
    We depended on Morales’, her hospital and the Criticalist who she employed and so upon Morales’ recommendation, we agreed to allow her Criticalist to do an endoscopy of Gertrude’s digestive tract, searching, for what we are not sure (because they did not tell us) and they also did not tell us that this biopsy / scope instruments could carry bacteria and could kill an animal, especially an animal whose immune system was already compromised and unstable.

    As it turned out this endoscopy caused Gertrude to further lapse into a critical state, because after the endoscopy she got an infection from the tube AND SHE BECAME CRITICALLY ILL. It was at this time, that Vet, Sofia Morales STOPPED COMMUNICATING WITH IS!! We took a picture of the horrible discharge from Gertrude and we sent the picture to Morales and we BEGGED her to find out what had gone wrong and to fix it. After that @_!*@! Sofia Morales received the picture of Gertrude’s inside basically on the floor, she COMPLETELY STOPPED responding to us and turned us over to her Criticalist, a vet who did not know anything about Gertrude and who had used a DIRTY TUBE to biopst our baby girl! That @_!*@! Vet, Sofia Morales and her Criticalist Killed our Gertrude!

    GERTRUDE BEGINS TO DIE:
    With the infection now in Gertrude’s system and with the depletion of her immune system, the infection triggered her ITP to return. Gertrude looked at us, asking for help and there was nothing we could do because NONE OF THE 3 VETS WHO WE HAD PAID OVER $100,000 TO WOULD RESPOND to us! When Gertrude’s insides were on the floor and she had no strength, we tried calling and emailing and texting Carotenuto and Green again, for Help, and neither one responded to us again!
    WHAT THEY ALL DID TO MY BABY GIRL WAS HORRIBLE & CRUEL! GERTRUDE WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN IN THIS MEDICAL STATE HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THE WAY ALL OF THEM TREATED HER & THE WAY THEY TREATED US & BECAUSE OF THEIR MALFEASANCE SHE DIED!

    Further, we later found out, just days before she passed away, that if she had been given her previous blood medications called Aranesp & Epogen, a medication that BOTH Green & Carotenuto KNEW HAD previously been given to her, which medication was in her file, & if that medication had been administered to Gertrude 2 weeks ahead or even a week ahead of her dying, and it could have saved her life! At the last minute when the only Vet we could find to help her tied to order it, it was delayed in being delivered and Gertrude worsened.

    GREEN AND CAROTENUTO AND MOST OF ALL, SOFIA MORALES PURPOSELY ABANDONED GERTRUDE. MORALES FINISHED HER OFF BY cutting us of and TURNING OUR BABY OVER TO THEIR CRITICALIST WHO SPENT ALL OF HER TIME TRYING TO CONVINCE ME TO KILL OUR BABY, INSTEAD OF LOOKING IN HER FILE AND SEEING WHAT HAD WORKED IN THE PAST – AND ONCE MORALES TURNED US OVER TO HER CRITICALIST, MORALES REFUSED TO SEE GERTRUDE OR COMMUNICATE WITH MY HUSBAND, WHO SENT HER NUMEROUS COMMUNICATIONS, BEGGING HER TO HELP GERTRUDE, especially in that he Criticalist had caused our Baby Girl to have her last days on this earth and DIE when NONE OF THIS WAS NECESSARY had these selfish @_!*@!’s cared !!!
    That medication could have boosted her blood levels and she would have had the strength to fight the infection that resulted from the endoscopy. INSTEAD, in not receiving their assistance and care, WHEN THEY KNEW GERTRUDE’s HISTORY & WHEN THEY KNEW SHE RELIED ON THEM, Gertrude began to die, and on August 6, 2021 she passed away in my husband’s lap.

    Because these THREE HEARTLESS GREEDY Veterinarians abandoned our baby girl in late July & early August 2021 and because their staff caused SERIOUS ILLNESS to our Baby Girl by misdiagnosis, when she was ill, but not yet critically ill, THEY ABSOLUTELY CONTRIBUTED TO HER CRITICAL ILLNESS & BECAUSE THEY CONTINUED TO ABANDON HER, ON AUGUST 6, 2021, THEY ABSOLUTELY PRECIPITATED HER DEATH!

    ❇️ TO THIS DAY I & many others, ARE FURIOUS AT THEIR TOTAL DISREGARD, AND IT IS MY OPINION, AS VETERINARIANS, THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN PRACTICE & THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS (but they are not, read on).

    – THEY REFUSED TO TAKE OUR CALLS and EMAILS and TEXTS, KNOWING THAT WE NEEDED TO SPEAK TO THEM and that Gertrude NEEDED TO BE SEEN BY THEM;
    – THEY REFUSED TO SPEAK TO THE OTHER VETS (Barry Animal Clinic, Miramar Beach, FL) THAT WE HAD TO TAKE GERTRUDE TO FOR CARE BECAUSE THEY REFUSED;
    – THEY REFUSED TO ORDER SIMPLE TESTS TO DIAGNOSE GERTRUDE;
    – THEY COMMITTED MALPRACTICE;
    – CAROTENUTO’S VCA CLINIC IN TUCSON MISDIAGNOSED GERTRUDE (July 2021) & SHE ALMOST DIED; – WE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM CARATINUTO ABOUT THEIR MISDIAGNOSIS & THEN VCA REFUSED TO REFUND THE MONEY THAT WE PAID THEM IN THEIR CLINIC FEES WHEN THEY MISDIAGNOSED HER & when WE HAD TO TAKE HER TO AN EMERGENCY HOSPITAL DUE TO THEIR MALPRACTICE;
    – THEY REFUSED TO PRESCRIBE THE MEDICATIONS THAT THEY SHE HAD BEEN GIVEN AND THAT THEY KNEW SHE NEEDED, & WHICH COULD HAVE SAVED HER LIFE & KEPT HER ALIVE!
    – THEY ABSOLUTELY KNEW FROM PREVIOUS YEARS IN TREATING GERTRUDE, THAT SHE & WE RELIED ‘ONLY’ ON THEM FOR TREATMENT OF FRAGILE SYSYTEM & IN PROVIDING HER MEDICAL CARE, IN ORDER FOR HER TO STAY HEALTHY & ALIVE!;
    – THEY ABSOLUTELY KNEW THAT GERTRUDE NEEDED THEIR HELP & THAT SHE WAS VERY ILL IN JULY & AUGUST 2021!;
    -THEY RECEIVED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM US AND THEN ABANDONED GERTRUDE & US;
    – THEY PURPOSELY ALLOWED OUR BABY GIRL TO DIE
    (USING COVID AS A REASON TO NOT RESPOND, AND WHEN WE WERE TOLD GERTRUDE WAS TOO MUCH WORK, while Carotenuto and Green, both stayed home)!
    – We were told, AFTER TAKING OVER $100,000 from us, that Gertrude WAS TOO MUCH WORK!
    – THEY ALL ABSOLUTELY KNEW THAT WE WERE BEGGING FOR THEIR HELP & THEY DID NOT CARE;
    IN FACT, by returned read receipts, we know that ALL received our emails & our messages and THEY PURPOSELY & INTENTIONALLY ignored us;
    – THEY ALL REFUSED TO PRESCIBE PROPER TEST AND THE MEDICATION SHE NEEDED;
    -* * WHEN GERTRUDE DIED NONE OF THEM CONTACTED US – EXCEPT FOR MORALES’ CLINIC WHO WANTED TO BE PAID THE ADDITIONAL $7,500 THAT WAS STILL OWING FROM ALREADY BEING PAID OVER $10,000 FROM GERTRUDE’S FINAL HOSPITALIZATION – WHICH WE PAID!

    – IT IS MY OPINION & BELIEF THAT THEY REFUSED TO COME INTO WORK OR RETURN OUR CALLS OR EMAILS OR TEXTS, OR TAKE CARE OF DIFFICULT OR CRITICAL PATIENTS BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL RECEIVING FREE COVID MONEY and THEY DIDN’T NEED TO BE BOTHERED.
    AGAIN, it was my belief as it always had been: THIS WAS ALWAYS ONLY ABOUT $$$ MONEY – $$$ MONEY – $$$ MONEY!!!! AND

    I would like to know how many Animals associated with VCA in TUCSON & IRVING & with CAPITAL VETERINARY SPECIALISTS in Tallahassee died during the months of July & August 2021!

    THEY ALL ABSOLUTELY knew that Gertrude solely relied on them for her care and they purposely abandoned her, turned us away & they purposely turned their back on Gertrude and she died.
    • Furthermore, IT IS MY BELIEF THEY COULD CARE LESS & WANTED HER TO DIE.

    I am going to file a complaint with the Veterinarian Board and I hope that they are reprimanded.

    I hope that this review makes you think twice about using ANY OF THEM AS YOUR VETS, or their Clinics.

    It is also my opinion that they need to lose their Vet licenses and Vet practices, because after what they did to us, they don’t deserve to be in practice! LASTLY, what are they doing to people who do not have money to pay them ??? If they did the same to you, I am sad for your animals and for you as their owners who love(d) them too!

  2. Very Disappointed

    We have been clients for over 13 years. We were told staffing issues prevented our dogs immediate care needs ( almost a week to see a Dr.) during 2020, into 2021. We saw a new temporary vet during COVID due to VCA Douglas County having only one Vet. Now they are having the same issues. Cannot get the care we used to there, even with being established patients. Look elsewhere!!

  3. Do not let this place handle your pet's remains

    I brought my dog here about two weeks ago. Unfortunately, she passed away very quickly. I expressed that I would like for her to be cremated. I was given a booklet with options for cremation arrangements. I selected and paid $130 for an urn for her remains to be returned.

    I called, asking why her remains were not ready to be picked up. The employee stated that the communal cremation was selected, and I did not want the remains returned, simply saying “sorry.” There was not even an offer to refund my money, considering services were not rendered.

    It was painful to lose my dog so suddenly and unexpectedly. It is a lot more painful knowing that she has been discarded thanks to the mistake of the incompetent employee of River.

    Do NOT trust this vet with your pet’s remains or care. If they are so careless with something as simple as returning my pet’s remains, I can only imagine how irresponsible they are in other aspects of their business. In the end, all I got from them was a phone call to say, “I am sorry, and I have done all I can for you.” Real Nice!! I hope that no one else experiences this pain.

  4. Supportive and caring employees truly helped me through a very sad day.

    Our dog was failing and we made the decision to have him euthanized. He was just shy of 17 and his functional changes were very concerning. The staff headed by Dr.Liske Bruinsma were wonderful to us and very supportive of our sadness and grief. I am very impressed with VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital. While there we witnessed others coming in with dying or injured pets, and each situation was being handled in a dignified, prompt and caring manner. Thank you to the staff for your kindness and compassion today. It helped us a great deal.

Went to VCA at 2:30 in the morning my Boxer was 13 years old he had to be put down he was walking in circles his head bobbing up and down and had hip dysplasia and arthritis of the worst kind I explained to them he would not get out of the car and in my car he was relaxed and at peace but the premadonna Vet refused to do it in my car but a year before that I brought my Pug of 14yrs and they euthanized her in my car it took 5 minutes of there precious time and paid there exorbitant fee of $350 to do so but this time around they can’t seem to find the extra 5 min to help me with my Boxer they sent me home with my dying dog and didn’t give a rats ass If these over paid veterinarians can’t empathize with us and can’t understand our grief and not willing to go the extra mile for some they are in the wrong business I hope in there last days they are refused medical care and have to go home and suffer I will never go back to VCA on Montgomery bunch of premadonna useless veterinarians ????????
