We had probably one of the worst experiences with Joni Schaber of The Hasson Company Realtors.
We found her recommended on Zillow, and I have serious doubts about the accuracy of those reviews.
Let’s break down her issues:
a) She continually pressured us to use her lender, even though we had already begun to work with our preferred lender.
She said no one would take us seriously with an out of state lender, but that she knew a company.
I’m pretty sure she was getting a kickback from this lending company she was recommending, which is absolutely illegal.
b) We iterated great schools were a criteria for us, and she continued to waste our time by showing us properties in lower rated school districts, citing she just did not agree with the school ratings.
c) She often pushed her own judgement on the houses we were buying, saying “oh you don’t want to make an offer on that house, it has no charm.” Um, not your call lady
d) every single offer we made with her (10+) got rejected. I began to question the clout in the industry she claimed to have, as I have never had to go through this many offers before (not our first or last home buying experience).
e) lack of timely communication. We were shopping for homes remotely, and often we would receive little or no communication about offer deadlines, and more than once we missed an offer deadline on a house we really wanted.
We worked with her for over two months, and ultimately she decided to terminate our contract.
She cited our lender as the main reason for her moving on, that we would never get an inspection scheduled in time for close.
SEVEN days after we found a new agent we got the house we live in now, with the lender we had originally signed.
