The George Washington University Ho...

The George Washington University Hospital is Scammer

Took sick at work because of a chest pain DC fire took me to GW Hospital 1: 20pm it took more than 2omins to be triage, after triage they place me in a corner MH5 I was in that corner for more than 45 mins before a doctor came, doctor told me I am going to order chest crazy ect. 2 hrs. Later no chest day ect. Only blood taken.

Ive decided to go the bathroom I almost fell a tech caught me and placed me back into bed. 1 hour later a nurse by the name Bella came and said hi, I will be your nurse today that was it, never saw her again. 2 2/1 hours later I saw her walked by never ask if I was okay or if I needed anything. Within 3 hours and 47mins only blood they took from me nothing else. I asked the doctor for pain medication not even that was given to me, I called my mom she prayed for me the pain went away in a little as no time.

At this hospital no one cares everyone just doing their own thing. Whoever is the medical director needs to take a look into their nursing staff attitude towards caring for patients. The technicians work like a hebrew slaves. This Emergency room should. It be functioning like this. This horrible disgusting and people life is at stake. I am actually writing this from the emergency room. Horrible. 31/2 hours doctor ask
ing if I need some tylenol, please I dont need it. Horrible

  1. Never Again

Not sure if they plan to make changes that will improve the care..but they should.

  2. I had spinal fusion surgery on Monday and was in the rehab ward until Thurs.

I had spinal fusion surgery on Monday and was in the rehab ward until Thurs. Overall my experience as a patient was not very enjoyable. The very first night after surgery, the IV machine kept beeping and waking me up every 1/2 hour. When I called the nurse to come fix it, I was told she would, but no one came.

This went on ALL NIGHT LONG! Their solution was to change the IV pain meds instead of changing the obviously dysfunctional IV machine. They changed the meds to dilaudid which ended up making me crazy and gave me anxiety attacks! I have never had such a horrible reaction to drugs before!

They seemed to have a hard time figuring out what pain meds to give me – is it really so hard to figure that out after major spinal fusion surgery what pain meds to give? I realize I am not a doctor, but by looking at a patient’s medical history, doesnt seem like it should be a difficult decision. At times I was in so much pain and would call for more pain meds and no one would come. I would have to call multiple times, and after 1/2 hour someone would finally come.

  3. The gentleman that responded said that they said they do not have a waiting list.

I made an appointment with Dr. Vivek Jain and was given a date 7 weeks away. I asked that I please be contacted if there were a cancellation. The gentleman that responded said that they said they do not have a waiting list.

I suggested that they start one because it’s inconvenient (to say the least) for me to call every single day and they probably would not want a barrage of calls from every single patient wanting a sooner appointment.

  4. GWU Hospital is absolutely the worst hospital I have ever experienced.

GWU Hospital is absolutely the worst hospital I have ever experienced. My father is there now and I am horrified by the treatment he has received at the hands of staff. The Doctors are excellent; however, should you be unfortunate enough to be admitted, you’re in big trouble. Yesterday, my father’s nurse didn’t even enter the room for more than 4 hours.

Today, my father began calling out in pain (loudly – and mind you, he has been through several major surgeries without a single pain pill) and we went looking for the nurse. We were told that the nurse was in the meds room and would be with us soon. After nearly 10 minutes, my father was in so much pain, we hit the orange “panic” button.

A woman came on the loudspeaker and informed us that she had already paged the nurse and we should be patient. Can you imagine? My father could have died in that time and they would never have known what was going on. Beware, beware, beware! There are many other good hospitals in the DC area and I suggest you choose any one but this.

  5. Needless to say, I'm never going back there.

I had gone here for treatment for an STD about a year back. Now Ive heard that doctors treat you like shit if you have a sexually transmitted infection, but I simply could not believe the way my doctor talked to me.

She was cold and sarcastic. On top of that, I overheard my ER nurse talking about having “another dumb college kid (by the way Im 35, certainly not a kid)” outside my room. Needless to say, I’m never going back there.

  6. Terrible hospital.

Terrible hospital. Our daughter had a fever and we were in town for an event so we didn’t have a doctor to go to. It seemed like around 7 people were waiting, but after 2 hours after not being seen and watching several people who came AFTER us, we left.

I thought the hospitals in Chicago were pretty bad (although Cook County’s ER rates really high) this felt incredibly incompetent. Another person who was registered right before us was also complaining about being “passed over” by several people.

He was told that his situation was more “complicated” than the people after him, so he had to wait. And the answer we got when we asked how much longer than the two hours we waited it would be was “we just had a shift change.” Wow, I would have never said that when I was a waitress–and that was just about food and drink. Yeesh, really low class.
