Poor Customer Communication

Could not in good conscience recommend RANLife Home Loans for a home loan.

I was never sure who I should be contacting, those that I did have contact with did not keep me in the loop on decisions they were making for me.

Poor customer communication. My loan amounts continually were changing, again, unbeknownst to me.

On their own, they just added points after I requested no points.

I would just receive a CD with no explanations.

I had to ask who they weren’t giving me options, just THEIR decisions.

And the worse infraction was that I was belittled and reprimanded by one of their managers for asking for confirmation and commitment on their ability to meet my deadlines.

Even my title company stated if this loan falls apart it will be the fault of RanLife.

Bottom line, though, I did get my loan and they finally met my deadlines, but not without great stress and duress.

  1. Our lender was awful.

Our lender was awful. There was absolutly no communication. The whole process was stressful and the underwriters are ridiculously picky.

They will ask for everything but the blood of your first born. I would honestly avoid them at all costs. I will definetely stick with our other lender so sad we tried something new.

  2. Scammer

Do not use these guys rip off ConMan

  3. Worst company ever

If I could, I’d rate 0 stars. This place is a joke. The loan officer is a joke. Worst home buying experience. From the beginning Ben said us having cash would NOT be an issue. That was a lie. He’d tell my boyfriend 1 thing and how this is the last thing .. the last thing. Then proceed to call or text me and say he needs this, this and that. He was / is horrible with the numbers. He told us if we paid off our Amazon balance that would put us in a better bracket with better rates and better options all around. So we did. Instead while his credit score did jump up nicely, We ended up having a higher mortgage with a higher upfront down payment and a higher closing cost. He was horrible with his communication skills and would literally tell my boyfriend, I didn’t say that, when in fact he did and I would know b/c he had called me and would tell me the thing he did not say to my boyfriend. Not to mention the day before our actual signing with owner of the home, we did our final numbers and everything was ok. None of it was the same as the beginning quotes but we were ok with it. Well the day of the closing as my boyfriend is signing he notices all the numbers are higher. The upfront closing cost was about $400-$600 more. The monthly mortgage also jumped up another $40-$60 bucks. Well when we called Ben and asked if he knew about this or when he knew he told us he ‘knew the day before but didn’t feel it was necessary to tell you’ !!!! Um WTF!! You knew I was gonna have to fork out more cash upfront and my monthly payment was gonna be higher but didn’t think it was important and necessary to tell me!!?! He then proceeded to tell my boyfriend that this was his first time and whatever. LIE! Because I specifically remember numerous times he would mention, I’m gonna do this or that but normally your real estate agent would do this and this. Like he’s been there, done that! I would have walked away but my boyfriend and I love where this house is. Which is literally 5 min walking distance from my folks. So while I was willing to walk away my boyfriend decided to keep on. Later that day we were called by the title company saying that we can’t move in bc they haven’t received our upfront closing cost. The upfront closing cost that Ben never sent instructions on how to send it. So we tried to get that going but it was 5pm. So Monday comes and they finally do receive it but the owner doesn’t receive his money. This is just the tip of the iceberg. The closing date kept getting delayed. So we called the company to complain about how unprofessional and unpleasant Ben Clowers was. The man on the phone then begins to ask us why we’re on FHA and not conventional b/c our numbers are great. That way we could have avoided the 1 year upfront flood insurance which would have saved us money. Then he asks us other stuff.. basically we were boned. And that there was nothing he could do. He then says if it was him he’d refinance in 6 mo and he hopes we’d go with them again but that way we actually could the cost and everything down!?! To end this whole bs of an experience, I just got a call (today) from the flood insurance guy who tells me they haven’t received their money and that if they don’t, the contract is basically voided!! He also says since they require a year upfront he doesn’t understand why our monthly mortgage went up as well.?!? SO PLZ AVOID THIS COMPANY! Save yourself from the headache of working with incompetent and inconsistent individuals. As I said this is just the tip of the iceberg but if you still want to go ahead at the very least avoid Ben Clowers! I’m also going to be posting this to the BBB.

This is an update 5-16-2019. we found out a couple of days later to a week after I posted this review our lender cancelled our flood insurance and switched us to another… WITHOUT TELLING US OR LETTING US KNOW.. and advised us to ignore the first one.

  4. Bad Service.

when IF we had been asked, the answer would have been that we actually WOULD have the funds from our tax refund. I told him we were using another lender and today I get an email basically saying we were denied their credit.

Ummmm, no. We chose to go elsewhere because of assumptions and the closing costs with our new lender are a fraction of what they were asking for.

  5. Process started out simple enough for a USDA loan.

Process started out simple enough for a USDA loan. We hit a lot of speed bumps and road blocks, but tried to push forward. Ultimately what drove us away was our loan processor assuming we wouldn’t have funds to close and instead of asking us directly,

put our real estate agent up to seeing if we were ok with the seller being asked to pay $4000 in closing costs. When I confronted our loan officer as to why nothing had been said to us, his reply was they had our bank information so “why ask a question we know the answer to?
