Prairie St John’s

Prairie St John’s Is A Joke

Prairie St John’s is a joke! My daughter was transferred here from the hospital after swallowing 2 bottles of prescription pills.

The psychiatrist, Dr.Hess met with her twice and sent her home because she said she didn’t have thoughts of hurting herself.

We argued with him because it had only been a couple days and they hadn’t worked with her at all to figure out why she took the pills.

He refused to listen to us and said he was releasing her anyways and if we wanted her to stay we’d have to pay out of pocket because he wouldn’t bill our insurance anymore.

Needless to say, they didn’t help her at all and it was basically a couple day babysitting service.

She even self harmed while she was there, so that shows how well they do their jobs.

Look elsewhere if your child needs serious help, they don’t care here.

people do not respond well to that.

For a place that specializes in mental health, they are not very hospitable. The lady I talked to on the phone was very rude and not very helpful. You would think they would understand what mental health is and have hospitality for everyone. I would not go or send anyone who has mental health to a place where people are that rude; people do not respond well to that.

My son finally agreed to help and our whole family new he needed IN HOUSE TREATMENT.

My son finally agreed to help and our whole family new he needed IN HOUSE TREATMENT. They took the word of a addict as to what sort of help he should have. They assessed him to out patient treatment. He did not go to first 2 days, went wednesday skipped thursday and went Friday. following week was not much better.

Did not pass his chemical tests and then was kicked out of the program. We would not recommend this place to anyone who has some sort of issues. They love people who can fill their spaces and with insurance. Probably people with out also because I’m sure they get paid by government programs.

Their end is suppose to be confidential , but when I would call to see if my son showed up instead of PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES calling me to stop calling they tell my son to have me stop calling. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE ????? I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE FOR HELP !!!!!! His Addiction counselor was Jason Grabar …..

He was a joke, would never return phone calls and THOUGHT he knew it all, instead of giving people with a disease personal guidance. He thought everyone was cookie cutter …. made his job easy. I can not say it enough NEVER go here. Go to Hazelden, minnesota .

Each of my stays was traumatic.

I went here four times as a teen. It didn’t help me at all. They gave me a bunch of medications that didn’t work, made us do group therapy all day, and had numerous ridiculous rules.

We also weren’t allowed to go outside. We had to stay on our floor the whole time. My shortest stay was 8 days, but my longest stay was three months. How long you stay is largely a matter of whether the doctor likes you or not. Each of my stays was traumatic.

Prairie didn’t admit my close friend (15) into the unit after meeting with the Psychiatrist, Counselor, Doctor early one morning. His mom wanted him admired and said I’m scared he’s going to hurt himself.

They still resisted. Around 9:00 that night his mom had to go with his dad to a cattle meeting, forced him to go but wouldn’t… On their way home ambulances came flying past them on their road.. He committed suicide. I hate prairie, they do nothing and the owner is Evil.

She blamed his death on his good friend when she took it just as hard as the family and did nothing to him, she stopped him from doing it before. She’s sick and twisted. Find help elsewhere please, save yourself.

They misdiagnosed him with bipolar a year earlier, with his chemical imbalance it made him bipolar. The people at prairie don’t care and Jen faul is twisted for blaming it on a 15 year old girl who did nothing phone records prove it. Please avoid.

    He is extremely rude!!!

If you have a family, please stay as far away from Prairie St. John’s as possible! We sent a family member there and they basically helped to destroy that persons life.

Over medicated, issues with staff and a coed living space, doctors thinking it is ok for a person to walk away from their family. It was a nightmare. Stay as far away from Prairie St. John’s as possible. There are many stories on the web…

A complete disappointment is truly seeking help for your child

Was treated very rudely called numerous times two talk to the doctor or someone and never got a call back attended a family team strategy meeting or eggs and meeting end the doctor was not in on that meeting the person who’s you know in charge of her care and quality of care on the lack of communication between any of the staff and family members is ridiculous are they going to do is medicate medicate medicate I tried from 7:30 a.m. in the morning until 9 to get ahold of my child or someone to see how she was doing I did received three phone calls back but just asking if I could give them that okay to start her on medication even though I had already told them that morning that I wanted to speak with the doctor and with my child first this was a voluntary thing for me and for my daughter to try and get help I don’t think this is very much help I think they are making it harder and giving her more reason to think that there is no help out there for people with anxiety depression post-traumatic stress disorder and body dysmorphia if you are looking for somewhere to get help for your child or loved one please do not go to this place it is a total waste of time and my daughter has social anxiety the fear of being judged by everyone and when she would approach the staff they would roll their eyes or yell at her what is that how professional can you be if you’re not there to help them you chose the wrong career

Also during that team meeting when myself and another counselor that has been helping with my daughter in her hometown Thief River Falls Minnesota brought to his attention concerns we had with staff daughter also boister opinion of the staff and the way they treat the patient and he Nick right away became agitated and angry like and said we are not going to put our staff on trial here and will bring her back to her unit he was rude and again said we won’t bring art staff onto trial here my daughter was very upset and crying hard and did not want to attend group immediately after so they put her in a room gave her a red and was she was not allowed to be with anybody else she had to stay in her room also during the meeting I was not able to hear my daughter at all I could hear Nick perfectly well and he said he would relay when she was saying to us that is very unprofessional we should have been able to listen to her not him we didn’t want to hear it in his voice I wanted to hear my daughters and her opinions and her concerns on her treatment they’re at Prairie St Johns he should have moved the phone close to her so that she could be heard these are issues with children feel like they’re not being heard feel like there’s no help for them and to be treated in the manner that they are there it just give them more reason to believe that please some authorities step in and help these people that also cannot get a straight answer as to how long my daughter has to stay there the meeting was to come up with that exit strategy which he asked her for if she had any idea about triggers and coping and myself or other counselors that was on the phone meeting cannot hear anything she was saying and he would cut her off rudely cut her off and then at the end after being agitated by our voiced opinions of the staff there he said well you are hot you have no coping skills this meeting is over and we have not determined a exit date yet very unprofessional I myself reminded him that people children especially with these kinds of disorders as social anxiety and body dysmorphia are not going to open up ask for help by people who are treating them early rolling their eyes and yelling at them and how are they supposed to write down their plan of their exit strategy or you know how they could benefit they’re who they can benefit from if they’re not allowed the utensils to write and today is day 7 of my child being in there and I still have yet to hear from the doctor or get a return call
