Peoples Mortgage Company

No Way Represents Me

I’ll start off with the fact that The Peoples Mortgage Company in no way represents me.

With that out of the way, allow me to begin explaining my dealings with them with regards to selling my house to a buyer of theirs.

We were supposed to have everything closed and finalized on the 16th of this month.

My wife and I had taken time off of work so that we could move our belongings out of the house we’re in now and into the house we want to buy.

Regrettably, that wasn’t going to happen. We’d gotten a call the Friday before asking for us to extend the closing date to the 19th.

While it was less than desirable, we figured we could still move our belongings over the weekend.

My wife kept to her scheduled time off, and since I was already home in between projects, we started packing up the house for the planned move on that weekend.

On the 18th, with 14 hours left until we were supposed to close, we get ANOTHER call saying that they couldn’t verify the buyers employment, and that they needed yet ANOTHER extension for the closing date, this time for the 26th.

Let me tell you, we were livid. My wife had now burned PTO for nothing.

I haven’t been able to go to work on any out of state projects because I’m needed to sign the closing docs, thus, I’m losing money that way.

And to top it all off, we’d gotten close to 90% of our house packed up in boxes ready for a move.

So, here we are, it’s Wednesday and you know what I found in my inbox this morning?

An email detailing how a member of The Peoples Mortgage Company who was supposed to be handling this (Thanks Casey! Clearly we see where your priorities lie.), went on vacation without leaving someone else as a POC in case things fell through (newsflash: things fell through).

In this email, they are making yet ANOTHER request for an extension for the closing of sometime next week, “possibly Tuesday or Wednesday.”

This whole fiasco has been a giant soup-sandwich, and I am not certain it’s even going to get any better.

I would urge caution to any person looking to buy a home to seriously and strenuously reconsider using The Peoples Mortgage Company as their lender.

My wife’s extremely angry over the burned time-off she’s used for this and I’m angrier than hell at not being able to bring in a full paycheck simply because these folks can’t get their act together.

Personally, avoid this company at all cost. I don’t see how they are worth it.

  1. Please use caution when using this company.

Please use caution when using this company. They made a huge mistake. We were pretty far along in the process… we had already deposited earnest money and had an inspection done.

They severely disappointed my family. Needless to say we are not closing on our home and lost out on a great house. Please seek another company.

  2. Unfortunately

Everything was done and requested at the last minute as if my loan was not important and something they got around to eventually. People’s mortgage employees then subtly put the blame on me, a first time home buyer, for their last minute hustle to get things done.

I would not use People’s Mortgage again. I would especially NOT recommend People’s Mortgage to first time home buyers who are unfamiliar with the loan process and who need a mortgage company whose personnel communicate clearly, effectively, professionally and in a timely manner.

Unfortunately, I found out after the fact what kind of reputation People’s Mortgage has with those who buy loans: sloppy, unprofessional work. Lesson learned.

  3. Stay away from this company!

Peoples Mortgage is not a very good lender. I had a very poor experience and would never recommend them to anyone. Stay away from this company!

Don’t use this company. They lie to you by telling you that by pulling your credit to get your mortgage your score will not be affected. I dealt with a Broker by the Name of Grant Holmes. Avoid him at all costs.

He will not return your phone calls and will have you jump through hoops for nothing. Very shady company. Will report them to BBB.
