OrthoArkansas

The absolute worst medical experience

The absolute worst medical experience with OrthoArkansas. I fell down the stairs at my home. I couldn’t get an appointment with a doctor at Ortho Arkansas until next week.

So, I decided to go to the after hours clinic which opened at 5:00. I arrived early because the receptionist on the phone told me it was a good idea.

I walked in the front door and asked the security officer sitting at a desk where it was. He told me he didn’t know.

There were signs for it but no directions or arrows. ( this should have been my first clue) I saw a lady at a cubicle in the room to the left so I walked in and asked her.

She told me to go across the hall. When I finally got to the right area, I asked the receptionist if I was in the right place and if there was a long wait.

She told me it wasn’t open yet an to sit down. Abrupt behavior, but I followed her directions.

After sitting for 30 minutes and watching two people who had come in after me get checked in.

I sat until the lady screamed my first name. When I got to the reception desk I noticed my shoe was untied.

She asked for my ids ( loudly smacking her gum) so, I put the on the desk and leaned over and tied my shoe.

I guess it offended her that I didn’t hand them to her and she got belligerent. She asked loudly again for them.

So I picked them up off of the counter and handed them to her. I could tell that I was going to be treated hatefully so I asked for my cards.

And she made a hateful sarcastic grunt while returning them and I left.I then went to UAMS Orthopedic after hours clinic. It was like night and day.

From the receptionist to the nurses, x-ray tech at Dr.. It was professional, friendly and welcomed me the minute I walked in the door. NEVER GO TO ORTHO ARKANSAS AFTER HOURS CLINIC!!!

  1. Ortho Ark request to know why I was upset

I got a call from a female who asked what issue I had with them. So she could address it. lol what a joke the call went basically like this she asked me and I started to reply as I was talking an trying to explain all the reasons why I was upset she interrupted me and basically started to tell me the company policy. An why it was ok for their staff to be jerks and I’m empathetic I stopped her and asked. To let me finish as I had many things I wanted to tell her but instead she interrupted me a second time so I realized that this was hopeless the ortho lady was not interested in what I was upset about only a way to justify the actions that their employees made as ok. So I said thank you and that I would never use ortho Ark again in my life time !

  2. Ortho Arkansas the most inhumane doctors I have experienced

    I have seen
Many doctors in my 71 years due to many injuries a ruptured disk that was inoperable with out patronizing me my doc said so I was put on pain meds for the last 30yrs. And every doctor at ortho though I have told them about my being in pain all refused to do anything for pain. I had to go to my pcp to have him inject me with pain meds and prescribe meds so I could sleep. Ortho Ark doctors just said I should be fine take a asprin when it took morphine to stop the pain. Over a 8 month period I asked about why shoulder surgery was so painful all they did was refer me to other doctors who all did nothing eventually 8 month later to the day the pain went away and I stopped taking additIonal pain meds. As for why they do not care about their patients pain it is unclear they should have a duty to care for their patients but all of them I meet showed no sign of caring what so ever it is as if they were there to herd people thru like cattle. I also am extremely claustrophobic. So I put this on my chart as well as explained this to the nurse and the people doing the MRI apparently this meant nothing as the nurse called in 1 tablet of Xanax 1 mg enough the equivalent of one over the counter sleeping tablet maybe two. My point is I have had probably 7 to 10 MRI’s in my life the first one I was able to do with out any meds when I was 8 or 12 I forget but over the years I have become very freaked out going even near a MRI. So
Obviously I told the nurse to cancel the MRI and I will obviously go elsewhere to a doc that has empathy an cares for their patients this has convinced me that all ortho Arkansas is is a human cattle moving production line with no feeling toward their patients. I will never use them again I highly recommend you go elsewhere !!!!! If you don’t wish to suffer and be treated like crap.

  3. I'm headed to a different provider in hopes that my injury will be address and treated.

Apparently patient care or patient satisfaction aren’t a concern with this provider since they have a new building in town. When I was seen for my ankle injury, I was told it was minor, given a walking boot since I still couldn’t walk after 10 days and told to rest.

Its been a year now and I still haven’t recovered. The only good news is I’m no longer in a boot but now looking at major surgery when it should have been treated a year ago. Now, I can’t even get the name of the doctor I saw since I don’t remember.

Nor can I get anyone to return my phone call. Not even the administrator. Pretty poor showing for a facility like this. Maybe they should teach their staff members to care about patients, or maybe do their job and return voicemail messages. I’m headed to a different provider in hopes that my injury will be address and treated.

  4. I'm ready to be done with this place and find care elsewhere.

I am a caregiver for an elderly parent, and we’ve been going to see Dr. Buck and Dr. “A” for about 3 months now for a post-surgical issue. Both doctors seem to be very knowledgeable, patient and good, HOWEVER, the problem we have is with the scheduling staff and assistants. Some of these young women have been rude in manner, they are not following through, not returning calls, not scheduling followups,

not faxing in prescriptions, not handing us instructions prior to a procedure – essentially – not doing their jobs, OR not happy about their jobs, whichever, and it shows. I don’t really understand why they consistently drop the ball or who is to blame, but the ball is being dropped. I have to PLEAD to get a call back for scheduling the next procedure and then the call doesn’t come. I have been told that this is due to “growing too big too fast”. If the problem is that they have too many patients, they are going to have one less. I hate to review negatively, but their problems have wasted a great deal of our TIME and neither of us are happy.

I’m ready to be done with this place and find care elsewhere. I understand sometimes people have personal issues that prevent them from doing their jobs, but regardless, there are things like work-sharing and redundancy, timeliness, and just getting people to SMILE that need to be addressed.

    1. I understand an I am sorry you had a bad experience your smart to go elsewhere

I feel that Ortho Ark are nothing more than cattle herders they treat people like cattle they are unwilling to address their issues they don’t care how their patients feel they lack empathy and any respect towards the patients feeling only their policy matters regardless of how much pain you may be in it matters not and if you experience trauma they could care less

  5. Thanks for nothing.

The entire experience was awful. From reception having long wait times on the phone, nurses being rude and having a bad attitude, all the way to billing who has yet to contact me back after 5 calls to the billing department. The worst however was the physician, who treated me as an afterthought,

didn’t even introduce himself to me, talked about me in third person and gave me all of five minutes of his time. Told me I should be better in 6 weeks, Whenever I’ve tried to get in contact because I’m still having pain I have had no response. Thanks for nothing.
