OneWest Bank

Horrible Customer Service

Wow, branch manager needs to be replaced. Horrible customer service.

Very condescending attitude like nothing is her fault.

Taking my business elsewhere after they screwed up on a deposit.

Instead of depositing, they withdrew the same amount.

Who does that? Instead of apologizing, they point the blame to me.

It’s a miracle OneWest Bank still exists.

  1. run as far away from OneWest Bank as you possibly can!!!!

I could write a book on my experience with this bank! They are trying to be an online bank like the big guys, but fail miserably! I have been lied to and have had all kinds of facts twisted in trying to close a matured Certificate of Deposit and a subsequent new savings account.

Phone representatives either make things up (as do their supervisors) or are simply misinformed. Expect to be on hold for 5 to 10 minute waits when you ask a question, as representatives “check to make sure they are correct” with their answers.

(Many answers turned out to be completely wrong!) Their problem escalation system gets you longer holds, supervisors and managers who repeat bad information or uphold bank policies that “protect the bank” at the expense of their customers. As I said, my story is long and I am not sharing all of it yet, but do yourself a huge favor….run as far away from OneWest Bank as you possibly can!!!!

  2. This bank is the worst bank I have ever dealt with.

This bank is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. I opened a CD account for several thousand dollars when it was IndyMac Bank several years ago. When I wanted to close out my CD I was told there was a $7 fee to make out a check. Wait a minute, a fee to write me a check to give me back my money?

The lady I spoke with said she would waive the fee and make a note in my account. Well I got the check today and they shorted me $7. Good riddance. I’m moving my money to Ally bank. They have good customer service and don’t charge me to send me my money.

  3. I raised my voice and let other depositors hear me that I am demanding my money NOW.

I wanted to get my money from my matured CD and I was interrogated as to what will I do with it? This is an invasion of my privacy. As if they don’t want to give it to me. So, I raised my voice and let other depositors hear me that I am demanding my money NOW.

I have a big accounts with them, now I am thinking of taking most of it if not all of it and transfer it elsewhere. Other banks can give better interest rates and no questions ask if I want to take it out. They don’t have shame or any etiquette in the way they ask me, so rude. To all: LEARN SOME MANNERS.

  4. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH OWB.

Over the past few years, I have had CDs at OWB. Their interest rate is a little higher; but needs to be to attract depositors. So, I decided to open a small checking account. For convenience I did it online. Big Mistake. They sent me a signature card with all my personal information (SSN, DL, DOB) through regular, untrackable mail.

This is a Civil Crime in California. (Title 1.81.1. Section 1798.85.) Strike one, they are criminals. I executed the document and returned it by Certified Mail, return receipt. I have proof they received it. When I asked where my ATM card was, they said they had not received my signature card.

Strike two. I intend to close my account and withdraw my money in one Dollar Bills. I have no tolerance for inept institutions nor their employees. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH OWB.

  5. Never Again

This bank is beyond awful ever since it was sold (twice). Signature card was lost, revolving credit (of $5000) failed to kick in (twice), telephone service is unable to do anything but apologize for being put on hold. RUN!

  6. Wow the operator here is actually terrible.

Wow the operator here is actually terrible. Rude unhelpful and needs to be fired because she obviously can’t handle a simple job.

  9. I agree - One West Bank is untrustworthy and unreliable.

I agree – One West Bank is untrustworthy and unreliable. Last week my 2 CDs matured on the same date. I went to the branch office on Alicia Parkway to combine the 2 CDs into 1 CD.

After 60 minutes with a bank “relationship advisor” I thought I had FINALLY completed my transaction with One West. Nope, yesterday I received in the mail another CD with different amounts for 2 separate CDs. Very troubling indeed. Hassle, Unreliable, Bureaucratic and Dumb.
