We unfortunately had a terrible experience with Knoble Moving. There have been a few negative reviews posted in July (after our move!). I wish we’d seen them before so we could avoided all of the heartbreak of having irreplaceable furniture and jewelry destroyed and lost. we never would have used Knoble. Here is a quick run down of the pros and cons so you can decide for yourself.
Pros:
-On time pickup and delivery
-Repaired a couple of pieces of the damaged furniture
Cons:
-Destroyed a bookshelf (stepped on by mover) and glass case (dropped by mover)
-Damaged an antique credenza, coffee table, and storage unit (all scraped while unwrapped in truck), an antique rocking chair (packed a sharp wooden object on top of it), and an expensive lamp (unwrapped at the bottom of a box with many of my daughter’s toys).
-A box containing all of my daughter’s clothes and some jewelry (including a bracelet given my daughter’s great grandmother shortly before she passed away) was lost or stolen during the move.
-Perhaps most frustratingly, Knoble refused to speak with us after the move. They deliberately avoided our calls and won’t even respond to our insurance claim for the lost items (they refuse to even deny the claim – they’re literally just ignoring me).

This experience has been a huge stress on my family during an already difficult time. I can’t recommend avoiding this company enough.

  1. Broke everything then never responded to my calls or emails. Having to hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit

  2. Scammer

They showed up an hour late and had no motivation to move with purpose and were very slow to load (paid hourly). They expected us to provide lunch at our cost. Regardless of the prep we put in to making the move happen quickly it still took them 4+ hours to load a 2 bedroom condo with direct street access.

  3. Fantastic company.

Fantastic company. I moved up on a Saturday and two movers were prompt in meeting me at my location. They were polite and hard working. They helped tape some boxes I poorly taped and went above and beyond to make sure my move went smoothly. Highly recommend this honest company if you’re needing some moving help in the DC area.

  4. I'd reccomend them to others moving.

They showed up at the time they said they would – they did push back by an hour in the morning which I didn’t mind in the morning – they called the night before to confirm.

I didn’t have a lot of stuff but they were considerate and careful with my stuff, covered all furniture with padding to avoid any damage.

  5. Do not use Knoble Moving.

They start off professional but end up being thieves. They will damage most of your wood furniture. We ended up with a tear in our couch, chipped wood off an antique, scratches on our head board, and to top that off the strait up broke two and heavy expensive items.

What bothers me the most about them is not the fact that they expect you to tip, they expect you to feed them, and they move like they are in no hurry to finish.

  7. Bad Service.

Prep: My wife and I planned this move from DC to Bowie months in advance and had everything we own in boxes, ready to go, with the exception of our large furniture like our bed and couches. We even had our house “staged” near the door for quick loading.

Experience: They showed up an hour late and had no motivation to move with purpose and were very slow to load (paid hourly). They expected us to provide lunch at our cost. Regardless of the prep we put in to making the move happen quickly it still took them 4+ hours to load a 2 bedroom condo with direct street access.

  8. But on the day of the move, everything that could go bad did.

I had high hopes for Knoble Moving – was recommended to them, they were responsive and helpful prior to the move and the price was right.

But on the day of the move, everything that could go bad did. The guys arrived late, 3 were sent instead of the 4 that were promised, the guys didn’t protect our floors or walls at the old or new house – thus banging up the walls and scratching the hardwood floors, and almost every piece of furniture was scratched/dented/damaged. When I tried to reach out to the company for resolution they practically ignored my every phone call and email.

  9. If you are reading this, you are probably considering hiring Knoble for your move.

If you are reading this, you are probably considering hiring Knoble for your move. Please listen very carefully to what I am about to say: RUN. Run as far away from this company as you possibly can.

We were very impressed with Kevin at our first meeting. He told us that all the movers worked for his company and were not subcontracted. He told us that he had one mover who only did artwork and knew how to pack it properly. He told us the movers would take excellent care of our things. Unfortunately, all of these things turned out to be untrue. So, so untrue.

  10. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Knoble moving company and it’s owner Kevin Cowan should not be trusted. The company is unreliable and unprofessional. You would be lucky if the possessions you entrust to them are received in the condition you left them. Do yourself a favor and read the many reviews lamenting what happens when Knoble is hired. Save yourself, save your money and protect your belongings by finding a reputable, trustworthy and insured moving company you do NOT want to work with Kevin or Knoble moving company. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
