Home Point Financial

Poor Customer Service

Home Point Financial’s customer service is poor. They do not answer the phone.

In fact, I returned their 5 calls 5 times in January of 2018 only to have each return call ring until their equipment disconnect my calls.

In February, I discovered why they called me 5 times in February, 2018,When I went back to their website to make my February mortgage payment, I discovered why they had called me 5 times in January.

Their records showed I had not paid my January mortgage payment, even though I had a confirmation number.

We discovered I had erred when entering my checking account number in January.

I spoke with a manager right away and we worked out the following payment arrangement: I paid the January payment on or about 4 February; I paid the February payment on 1 March; I paid the March payment on 3 March.

I have learned Home Point Financial’s records show that I was over 30 days late in making a mortgage payment.

This report reflects negatively on my credit report.

Had their customer service answered my 5 phone calls, I would have made the January payment on time.

They did not email me. They did not send notice by the United States Postal Service.

All mortgage payers should avoid Home Point Financial altogether.

  1. Homepoint screwed us big time

Homepoint did NOT figure our escrow corre tly when we did a refi and now because of their mistake which they claim are raising our payment over 500.00. We are a retired couple on a limited income and this could make it where we could lose our home which we love or ruin our credit rating which is good. The only way they are helping is to spread their mistake over 3 years which is still a he’ll of a lot more than what we signed off on at closing.
My advise find a different company!

  2. Disgusting

Sent in payment. They cashed. 6 weeks later they still haven’t credited account. I’ve spent countless hours and 2 weeks ago send them the front and back of my check. This is insanity. Its disgusting. They credited someone else’s account. They know they made the mistake and took off finance charges but as of yet haven’t posted the amount they cashed. I have zero faith in them and am paying off my loan…its THAT bad!

  3. You have to dig around to find the right number.

Avoid it like the plague! My credit report, along with how many others dropped to fair because of a glitch. It is excellent. Email sent by them for important matters like when you have sold your home?? The number on this important message is nothing but advertising!

You have to dig around to find the right number. Confidential emails that have to, or can be accessed with a code, don’t work. This is how a professional company works?? LOL. So glad I’m done with them.

  4. My mortgage company sold my mortgage to Home Point Financial and everything negative that everyone is saying is correct.

My mortgage company sold my mortgage to Home Point Financial and everything negative that everyone is saying is correct. I hope that they sell it again to someone else. I am big on reading all reviews before I make a decision but I didn’t get that choice this time.

So for anyone else looking into using them…..DO NOT…… There are so many places that you will get better deals and treated much better. When I started with an even worse company to get my home loan (CREFCO) they added my homeowners insurance into my escrow. When they sold it to Homepoint I called them and told them that my homeowners insurance is already paid for therefore didn’t need to be taken out and included in my payment.

They told me that it was a fee that they charge for my USDA loan and not my homeowners insurance amount. Needless to say they have also messed up my credit score as well and they thing “WERE SORRY” fixes that! I wish I would have went directly to USDA and then I wouldn’t be in this situtation. Please if you have the choice DON’T USE HOMEPOINT FINANCIAL.

  5. I can no longer pay my mortgage payment online or over the phone.

I don’t know what their deal is, but they are demanding an escrow for taxes and insurance when I already have insurance, which I pay separately, and I prefer to pay my taxes on my own. In addition, I can no longer pay my mortgage payment online or over the phone.

When I mailed in my mortgage payment by check, they cashed the check but then refused to acknowledge payment. They now sent me a deficiency letter. Been on the phone now for over ten minutes trying to straighten this out, but still on hold. Stay far, far away.

  7. They would not even cooperate with our realtor!

I would give them zero stars if it was an option. They did a wrongful foreclosure on my families home! 1st. Told us we couldn’t get a loan modification because we were current on payments. We wanted a lower payment due to a job loss and could not afford the $1,200 payments anymore. We had a fixed 30 year rate. They jacked up the payment without notice.

2nd. They told us to miss three! Consecutive payments to qualify for a loan modification. We took their advice in hope we could make things affordable.
3rd. We started the loan modification process and they sent us the same exact form word for word on every single option we had available.

Sent the same reply word for word stating “we don’t make enough” even with someone else’s income who makes well over $60,000 a year!!
4th. Tried to do a short sale on our home because we could not afford to give them $13,000 up front to keep our home. They would not even cooperate with our realtor!

  8. Would give them zero stars if that was an option.

I’ve had many mortgages, this was the worst experience ever. Their customer service is beyond incompetent. Communication at every level is rude and unfriendly. Would give them zero stars if that was an option.

  9. Stay away from them.

My loan was sold to this company a while ago. In May/June they had a glitch in their system and stopped reporting to the credit bureau as if I do not have a loan at all.

I have called, emailed, sent letters with supporting documentation telling them “yes, I do have a loan with you, yes, you get my payment on time each month, etc.” and still have yet to get it resolved.

I have contacted the bureaus and they told me Home Point have not submitted anything on my account and actually closed the loan back in May!

This has affected my credit rating and trying to buy another property at this time seems impossible. I have owned my home for over 20 years and all of a sudden due to this horrible company I do not exist! Stay away from them.

  11. It sucks that my previous mortgage company sold my loan to Home Point Financial Corp.

It’s a shame I have to even give this company one star. We have gotten notices in the mail telling us that we have not had insurance since Feb and that they are going to issue an invoice to us for over coverage. We have provided them with our declaration page three times and we still continue to receive letters.

The customer service (LOL) agent my husband talked to this morning said that the fault is ours, not Home Point’s and that we are going to be billed because we haven’t proven we had coverage. My husband told her that if we get an invoice for insurance, we will be filing a suit and the agent told him to “bring it on because we love a good challenge”.

Really? Why are they allowed to get away with this? Today I provided copies of the declaration page again as well as a copy of our mortgage statement from THEIR website showing our insurance company, the policy # and the amount paid for. It sucks that my previous mortgage company sold my loan to Home Point Financial Corp.

  12. If I could give this company zero stars right now I would!

If I could give this company zero stars right now I would! I have been dealing with this extremely frustrating situation related to my account and everyone wants to point fingers at everyone else instead of helping me fix the problem that the ONE person that cannot be blamed for any of this is ME! I am beyond frustrated that I have spent so many hours on the phone trying to fix this situation and have spoken to so many different people who promised me they would fix it,

then didn’t, were rude to me and told me it couldn’t be fixed and now a manager who told me to be patient with him and trust that he will get it taken care of, which I am having a very difficult time trusting anyone at this point! As I told the manager today, can you imagine if the roles were reversed and I owed this company over $2,000?!? I would be getting a phone call every day, there would be interest added and it would ruin my credit.

  13. Not one return call. I stopped playing their game and have retained an attorney to file a law suit for lending violations and possible fraud.

This is the absolute worst lender on the planet. They pulled a fast one on us by underpaying our escrow and insurance then raised our monthly payments by nearly $500 per month. When I caught wind of it,

I spoke to an endless army of customer representatives – not a helpful one in the bunch. For the same issue, I had to escalate to a supervisory level FIVE TIMES because not a single one followed through with their promise(s) to investigate the matter and call me back with information.

Not one return call. I stopped playing their game and have retained an attorney to file a law suit for lending violations and possible fraud.

Typical to wait on hold for over an hour only to be disconnected before someone picks up – or worse, right AS someone is picking up. I’ve wasted dozens of hours on the phone with these clowns.

  14. Scammer

Such a horrible company to deal with.
