Hingham Institution For Savings

Completely Unprofessional

Unfortunately, in order to leave a review I have to give one star, otherwise I strongly feel Hingham Institution For Savings doesn’t deserve any stars.

I called the branch manager, Anthony Tierno and set up an appointment to meet with him regarding obtaining a mortgage loan.

Prior to our meeting he requested my pay stubs, prior year tax returns, bank statements etc.

Which is to be expected. I emailed copies of all documents requested.

During our meeting we discussed what I was looking for and he recommended me to a mortgage broker, and clearly stated if the mortgage broker didn’t offer what I needed to please return to him for additional assistance in my mortgage application process.

The mortgage broker Anthony recommended was unable to help so I called Anthony back on several occasions, leaving voicemails to discuss the next steps.

I followed up via email as well however I never received any communication back from Anthony.

It’s completely unprofessional to not return phone calls/email within 24-48 hours, and it is blatantly rude not to respond at all.

I wouldn’t be so concerned had I not sent Anthony all of my personal documentation, however I did.

I wouldn’t recommend Anthony personally, and if you chose to work with Hingham Savings, I would suggest you visit a different branch!

  1. I've sent to him has been more than pleased with his services.

I have referred multiple clients to Tony, the manager. He has been great! I work for a mortgage company myself, so I know what to expect when it comes to service and knowledge. Tony is great, and everyone I’ve sent to him has been more than pleased with his services.

  2. If you're tired of big bank horrible customer service and fees bank with HIFS!

I will try not to gush, but after dealing with Bank of America for 10 years (locked in because I had my mortgage with them) the service at Hingham has been refreshing and a very welcome change. I’ve been banking with Robin in the South End for 4 months now and she has been so helpful.

The girls behind the teller line always remember my name and give my dog a treat every time we visit . This community bank offers “think outside the box” banking. If you’re tired of big bank horrible customer service and fees bank with HIFS!

  3. Be aware.

Be aware. Hingham Institution for Savings is devious about charging people extra ATM fees. They advertise how they belong to all these networks that provide free ATMs. What they don’t tell you is that the free ATMs are only at select Hingham Saving locations.

For example, their Main St Hingham location has a free ATM. Their Hingham Institution for Saving location in Hull apparently doesn’t belong to any of these ATM networks. They will charge you for every transaction, very sneaky.
