The truck did not arrive at the new apartment until after.

I do NOT recommend using Global Moving! I thought our move was scheduled from 1-4pm but that turned out to be a “window” when they would show up. They did not arrive until after 3pm and the delay added a great deal of stress to the move. We had reserved elevators at both buildings and the time slot was from 1-4pm AND we paid the city of DC for a parking permit so the truck could park in front of the building to unload and the permit is limited to 9am-5pm. All these arrangements seemed perfectly reasonable and worth the expense however the truck was loaded by just two guys and very slowly (even though we had carried all the boxes to the loading dock while waiting and only had a limited amount of furniture to be loaded from a studio apartment). The truck did not arrive at the new apartment until after 5pm so the truck had to park illegally in the bus stop zone to unload. We were charged for an extra hour ($85) and felt they were intentionally moving as slow as possible to be able to charge more money. If I’d known this when they arrived, I would have offered a bonus of $85 to move quicker! The total cost ended up being similar to the quote from Bookstore Movers, the most popular and well-rated movers in DC, and I would suggest using them instead. And it’s important to ask for 3 guys and try to get the first appointment of the day to avoid delays!

  1. Horrible horrible horrible! Don't ever use them!!

Horrible horrible horrible! Don’t ever use them!!!! Ever!!! They arrived at 9:15 am I find one sitting on the phone talking and had to tell him to keep Moving! Then it has never taken my family 12 hours to move ever! We are military and have moved every few years and this by far has been the worse!

We were almost through with the grueling move and then we start to discuss time/payment! This crazy man says 11 hours and I said I’m not paying that! And the worse part is our furniture is all over the house and nothing put together!!! He says I’m keeping your TV’s if you don’t pay so I called the cops! Of course no emergency so they take forever!

We then tell the guy we’ll pay them a little extra try to meet in the middle and then he proceeds to talk about the tape he used that it’s $5 a roll! They never disclosed that and they used about 30 rolls! I begin to laugh and walk away while letting my wife handle it because I was about to flip my lid!

We are sitting here currently at 8:50pm talking about flipping tape! Kids screaming feed me….no where to sleep, he’s nickel and diming us and I’m seriously about to freak out! Please whatever you do especially MILITARY STEER CLEAR OF GLOBAL MOVING! True SCAMMERS!!!!! We started at a $800 budget now up to $1200 and climbing! Pray for us!!!!!

  2. My move was a long distance move to the state of Washington.

My move was a long distance move to the state of Washington. When my things arrived, they were DAMAGED HUGELY. The movers put my hutch (both pieces) in the street. Unbeknownst to me, they picked up a rock from the street. When they put the two pieces together in the house. the rock was still attached and they made a GOUGE (not scratch) from front to back of my hutch.

They tried to cover it by putting the top on the bottom incorrectly. When I straightened it out, I saw more gouges and some pretty deep scratches. There were about ten places where the finish had been knocked off. This was the tip of the iceberg. My dining table has scratches and gouges all over it. There were white markings on it.

The table and hutch (just like all of my furniture) was in pristine shape. I am compulsive about taking care of my things. I had two other pieces in my dining room that also had multiple places where the finish was taken off. The estimates were $4280 to repair the dining room furniture.

The living room furniture is all antique. There were 5 places where a piece of wood was knocked off of the couch. The fabric was also separated from the frame in 4 places. I have a piano that was made in 1891. There were only two of these pianos made- EVER. It is very ornate.

I have had it for 40 years. It was in pristine shape. It now has pieces of wood knocked off of it. It is no longer worth anywhere close to the $20,500 that it was estimated.

  3. Yes Eugene, you did give me $2500 for compensation.

Yes Eugene, you did give me $2500 for compensation. My move was $7500, so I hardly think that you went in the red for this move. The insurance pay out was $1190, so since I am a math teacher, I know that $1190 x 5 is not $2500. Guess again.

One of the things that I forgot to mention in my review is the fact that your crew tried to give me four boxes that did not belong to me, plus a huge mirror, a ladder, and some other pieces of small furniture. Fortunately, I was able to tell them that these were not my items and they put them on the truck.

When I found three boxes that did not belong to me while unpacking, I called you. I was hoping that my items that were clearly given to someone else, that person would do the same thing and return my things. When I asked what to do with the things that did not belong to me, you told me to throw them in the garbage.

If you think that giving me $2500 for compensation, when you did $9480 worth of damages to my furniture, lost my engagement and wedding ring, and lost thousands of dollars worth of my personal belongings is fair, all I can say, is that you are the one that has to sleep with yourself every night.

I would not be able to sleep at night if I treated people this way! You knew without a shadow of a doubt that I was NOT HAPPY with $2500!!! I made that crystal clear to you!!! And yes, I firmly believe that you did not care!!!

  4. Every part of this move, after making the arrangements was HORRIBLE!!!

When Eugene came to my home to give me an estimate, I believed what he said. BOY, WAS I WRONG!! Every part of this move, after making the arrangements was HORRIBLE!!!
