Fairway Independent Mortgage Corpor...

Terrible Experiences

We had a terrible experience. We received probably almost 10 loan estimates that had incorrect information, including the wrong financing rate, wrong down payment rate, and wrong purchase price.

Then when trying to figure out how to address a problem with our appraisal, our loan officer kept verbally changing how much our monthly payments would be, and could not explain where the money was going to account for the appraisal difference.

I spent hours pouring over the numbers and eventually figured out what should have been a simple explanation.

He never apologized. He and the other staff’s estimates varied by $2 to $80/month different and the money we’d need to close was subsequently all over the place.

It was very unsettling so far into the process to feel like we had no idea what our mortgage payment would be.

I would never recommend Fairway Mortgage and am embarrassed that we didn’t follow our gut and go with a real bank.

Further when I asked about the “We intend to transfer servicing of your loan,” the officer would never answer my questions, and maybe this is because he didn’t have the answers, or maybe he did.

It was totally unprofessional to not answer my questions.

But now we’ve been transferred to a mortgage company (Roundpoint) that gets 1 star reviews online.

I would never, ever recommend Fairway to anyone.

The process was miserable and now who knows what we’ll deal with in Roundpoint.

  1. Fairway Doesn't Care

Fairway will sell your loan to Dovenmuehle Mortgage which is the absolute worst servicing company you will ever TRY to deal with. You will never be able to get an email response from them or speak with anyone over the phone. And…. you have no recourse. Fairway sticks you with this horrible company and you are stuck.

  2. Unethical Business Practices

Bait and switch tactics; tried to do another loan that I did not want and then slipped paperwork in hoping I wouldn’t see it. They lie and deflect even when you show them proof. Apparently lying, having no integrity, and doing whatever it takes to rip their customers off is their mantra. Even when the branch manager admitted they screwed up, their so-called corporate counsel tried to deflect and ignore, which just goes to show that she and corporate lacks honesty and character. However, counsel does a spectacular job at being a mouthpiece and she must go through a lot of kneepads doing her job. It’s obvious she loves being in that position.

  3. This company has been outstanding start to finish.

This company has been outstanding start to finish. They were recommended by a close friend and can’t say enough good things about them. We worked with several members of their staff, all of whom made the process easy and professionally done. They are the BEST!

  4. Love this group.

Love this group. I’ve used them TWICE and they’ve been amazing each time. Buying a home is stressful and Bill Murphy and the team made it an enjoyable and pain-free experience. Thank you for all that you do!

  5. It is really nothing more than a cliché if you don't live up to it.

NEVER AGAIN! My Fairway experience started off with a bit of a hiccup. My initial mortgage quote did not include PMI so you can imagine how happy I was to see such a great monthly payment. Oops, sorry. Ok, everyone makes mistakes. We smile and move on.

The rest of the process went smoothly. Fast forward 10 moths and my monthly payment starts doing funny things. I shoot an e-mail off to my loan officer asking for some help in understanding what is happening.

That was a month ago. Yesterday I called asking for help and was told I had to contact a call center in Texas. I would much rather deal face-to-face with the people right here in my community that originated my loan.

I asked to have my loan officer call me. Guess what. No response. Fairway claims that “Customer service is a way of life.” It is really nothing more than a cliché if you don’t live up to it.

  6. Worked with Cheryl LeBlanc of the Fairway Mortgage office in Holden

Worked with Cheryl LeBlanc of the Fairway Mortgage office in Holden, MA
while she promised excellent customer service, there was a lack of communication throughout the process and it took her 7 weeks to tell the buyers their loan was denied off of information from the credit report which is done right away. She asked for extensions and still it got denied.

  8. They argued they had outstanding service worth the extra cost.

Although fairway was not a terrible experience we had to fight to get them to give us the same interest rate offered by other lenders (our credit score was over 800). They argued they had outstanding service worth the extra cost.

They did agree to thd better interest rate but before our fist payment sold our mortagage to dovenmuehle mortgage a one star rated company. I wanted a local company and regret not staying with Anchor Bank, Because Fairway sold us to a one star I am honoring them the same rating.
