E*TRADE

There plus the trade costs on a per trade basis

If you are small, and I mean small, investor like I am, run, run fast and run far. They have a fee for EVERTHING!!!!! I just wanted to put a few hundred (500) in the account and learn as I invested. Recently retired and figured this might be a way to learn online investing without attending all those “sure thing” investing seminars which I find unsuitable.

Now every time I called I was treated well and the folks were knowledgeable and very nice. But again if you want to do something, it’s 5 dollars here, 10 dollars there plus the trade costs on a per trade basis.Today I had had enough so called to cancel my account and guess what, another 10 buckaroos to cut an electronic check that no one will ever touch.

My advice to the small, and I mean small trader like myself . buy investing for dummies and do your research on all the online traders before you jump. Yes I know, shame on me for not doing that, but with the advertisements they do, I was taken in by the shiny and not the substance.Anyway, just my opinion best of luck

  1. Death By Fees

Stay far away from this mess. You are better off going to a brick an mortar brokerage or even the horse races. At least at the horseraces, there is a chance you will get something! There are fees for everything! I paid $49.99 in purchase and redemption fees for a mutual fund! They were not fees the fund charged….just E-trade! Once I sold off my stocks to withdraw my money they hit me with more fees! “Brokerage fees” or “service fees” they were called…..no one at customer service could rightly explain what any of the extra fees were. By the time the fees were done, I lost half of my investment. The Russian Mob has friendlier customer service!

  2. I've been working for months to resolve an issue with my IRA.

I’ve been working for months to resolve an issue with my IRA. The service is horrible. I would send emails and never hear back; and when I did, I’d receive a form email that didn’t address the issues at hand.

When I’d call, I would always end-up with someone who had no clue about my account, and it was always back to square one.

I even tried to schedule a call with a service rep who needed to look into something, and the rep agreed to call me back at a scheduled time a few days later, and then never called or left even a voice mail. Back to square one again.

  3. I will never give them my business!

It wouldn’t allow me to give no stars. Stay away from this company at all cost! They are horrible, extremely unprofessional, unorganized, and a complete waste of time. I had to try and extract money from my mother’s account when she passed and they made it damn near impossible.

I provided all the documentation they asked for, more than once, and it took well over a month to complete and is still unresolved. They couldn’t tell me all I would need to provide at one time, instead everytime I submitted something, they asked for something else. I will never give them my business!
